Discovery August Premieres

Discovery is turning up the heat this summer, with a number of series set to premiere in August. The summer premieres get underway Wednesday, Aug. 7, following the wrap of SHARK WEEK. Get a look at Discovery’s August premieres below:

EXPEDITION UNKNOWN (New Episodes)
Beginning Wednesday, August 7 at 9 p.m. ET

Adventurer and explorer Josh Gates returns for a new season of EXPEDITION UNKNOWN, Wednesday, August 7 at 9 p.m. ET. The season is set to air on Discovery Canada day and date with the US and is the next summer premiere following SHARK WEEK 2019, which wraps on August 3. Gates’ search for mystery and adventure takes him into the most extreme climates on the planet, from the sub-zero temperatures of the Siberian Tundra to investigate the baffling deaths of nine hikers on Russia’s infamous Dead Mountain to the scorching heat of the Negev Desert where he explores newly discovered caves and tunnels that could the next Dead Sea Scrolls. In addition, Gates dives into the waters of Panama and the mysteries of Sir Frances Drake’s lost fortune, and into the rainforest of Puerto Rico to explain the infamous cryptid, the Chupacabra. CONTACT (New Series)
Premieres Wednesday, August 7 at 10 p.m. ET

Directly following EXPEDITION UNKNOWN is the brand new series CONTACT, premiering Wednesday, August 7 at 10 p.m. ET. The series was announced via a story in The Hollywood Reporter on Monday and features six highly trained investigators using ground-breaking CIA-developed software, military special operations investigative techniques, and boots-on-the-ground journalism to track down leads around the world and prove that extra-terrestrials have made contact with the human world.

UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE (New Series)
Premieres Sunday, August 11 at 9 p.m. ET

UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE follows billionaire Glenn Stearns as he attempts to take $100 dollars and build a million-dollar company in just 90 days. The series will premiere on Discovery Canada Sunday, August 11 at 9 p.m. ET. Stearns assumes the alias “Glenn Bryant” and isn’t allowed to use his real name, contacts or wealth – just the principles, methods, and process that made him the billionaire he is today. In order to succeed, Glenn will need to come up with a million-dollar idea and find a team to help him build it.
