TORONTO (December 18, 2020) – Discovery battles the elements this January, with the debut of its thrilling new original series, MUD MOUNTAIN HAULERS, airing Mondays at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. ET, beginning Jan. 25. The eight-episode, one-hour docu-series follows two real-life crews, led by brothers Craig and Brent Lebeau, as they risk is it all for the haul and their logging businesses in the steepest, muddiest conditions in North America. The new series is produced in partnership between Bell Media Studios Original Programming and Great Pacific Media. Leading up to the premiere of MUD MOUNTAIN HAULERS, fan favourite HEAVY RESCUE: 401 returns with 18 brand new, one-hour episodes of gripping roadside rescue, Tuesdays at 10 p.m.ET / 7 p.m. PT, beginning Jan. 5. In the all-new MUD MOUNTAIN HAULERS (Mondays at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, beginning Jan. 25), bigger paydays beckon men to risk it all in the kilometre-high Cariboo Mountains of B.C. This character-driven docu-series focuses on one of the most dangerous jobs on land – logging and log hauling – and no one is willing to go steeper or higher than third-generation loggers Craig and Brent Lebeau and their crews. For a decade, the two brothers were at loggerheads, unwilling to cede an inch or a machine to the other. But wicked weather, a series of setbacks, and a declining industry have forced the Lebeau brothers to bury the axe and work together. In the premiere episode, Craig Lebeau and his team are pushed to the breaking point after a serious accident with a fully loaded logging truck traps their lead driver. With mud on the mountain– the worst it has been in years – the accident forces everyone to re-examine whether having the most dangerous job in Canada is worth it. But first, Season 5 of HEAVY RESCUE: 401 (Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT beginning Jan. 5) continues to tell the harrowing stories from Ontario’s notorious 400-series highways – extending from Windsor in the west to the Québec border in the east – during winter driving season. In Toronto, Sonny Subra makes a major change, leaving behind the company where he honed his skills and earned the senior spot. After suffering an injury, Gary Vandenheuvel steps back from his work on the highway and leans on his crew, pushing him to make a decision that will change the future of Preferred Towing. At the East end of the 401, the crew from Cornwall Towing fights some of the biggest wrecks of the season. But owner Duncan Cooper is fighting just as hard to honour his father’s legacy with a daring new addition to his fleet. Navigating blinding whiteouts, multi-car pile-ups, and truck roll overs, Season 5 emphasizes the comradery of the roadside crews, police, maintenance contractors, and several other organizations that safeguard the nation’s most critical commercial corridor. On the Season 5 premiere of HEAVY RESCUE: 401, “Big, Mean and Heavy,” a load of lumber spills across the 401 in the heart of Toronto, sending John Allen into the first storm of the season. After an injury on the job, Gary must lean on Collin for a heavy and delicate recovery. Meanwhile, Sonny makes a major change in his life and career. Season 4 of HEAVY RESCUE: 401 was a Top 3 series on Discovery for the 2019/20 broadcast year.
