DOCTOR WHO Takes Over Space Beginning August 20 with Three, All-New Specials Leading up to Season 8 Premiere

TORONTO (August XX, 2014) – Before the TARDIS touches down for the Season 8 premiere of DOCTOR WHO, Space has lined up three, all-new specials to welcome back the Time Lord. Beginning tonight, Space has the exclusive Canadian premieres of DOCTOR WHO: THE ULTIMATE COMPANION at 9 p.m. ET and DOCTOR WHO: THE ULTIMATE TIME LORD at 10 p.m. ET. Then, on Friday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. ET, Space’s flagship series INNERSPACE premieres INNERSPACE PRESENTS: DOCTOR WHO SEASON 8, featuring a Canadian exclusive interview with Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi and current companion Jenna Coleman. The highly anticipated Season 8 DOCTOR WHO premiere event kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. ET. The following week, DOCTOR WHO moves to its regular 9 p.m. ET timeslot, Saturday, Aug. 30.

In DOCTOR WHO: THE ULTIMATE COMPANION, the Fifth Doctor Peter Davison (LAW & ORDER: UK) explores the ever-changing role of the Doctor’s companion. Immediately following THE ULTIMATE COMPANION, Davison, along with special guests, executive producer Steven Moffat (SHERLOCK) and Tenth Doctor David Tennant (BROADCHURCH), explore what it takes to be a righteous Time Lord in, DOCTOR WHO: THE ULTIMATE TIME LORD.

Leading up to the Season 8 premiere event, Space gives viewers the chance to binge-watch all three aforementioned DOCTOR WHO specials beginning with an encore airing of DOCTOR WHO: THE ULTIMATE COMPANION at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by DOCTOR WHO: THE ULTIMATE TIME LORD at 3:30 p.m. ET and INNERSPACE PRESENTS: DOCTOR WHO SEASON 8 at 4 p.m. ET. Then, Space delivers an encore presentation of the DOCTOR WHO 50^th Anniversary special, THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR at 5 p.m. ET. Capping off the marathon is 2013 Christmas Special, THE TIME OF THE DOCTOR at 6:40 p.m. ET.

Following the marathon of specials, DOCTOR WHO makes its much-anticipated Season 8 return on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. ET. In the episode “Deep Breath,” when the Doctor arrives in Victorian London, he finds a dinosaur rampant in the Thames and a spate of deadly spontaneous combustions. Who is the new Doctor, and will Clara’s friendship survive as they embark on a terrifying mission into the heart of an alien conspiracy? The Doctor has changed. It’s time you knew him.
