Eugene Cheng from Vancouver, B.C., and Nadia Rehman from Markham, Ont., are eliminated from the competition.
The pressure was doubled as esteemed MASTERCHEF CANADA judges Michael Bonacini, Claudio Aprile, and Alvin Leung revealed that Eugene Cheng, from Vancouver, B.C., and Nadia Rehman, from Markham, Ont., are the next two home cooks to relinquish their white aprons and depart the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen. With three home cooks remaining in the competition, MASTERCHEF CANADA returns next Tuesday, June 12 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 MT on CTV and CTV GO. In tonight’s episode, the Top 5 home cooks entered the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen to find a Mystery Box at each of their stations containing the signature ingredient from their MASTERCHEF CANADA audition dish. The home cooks are tasked with reusing their signature ingredient to create a dish demonstrating their growth during the competition. The judges announced that family members of the home cooks will be arriving to pay them a surprise visit to help inspire and cook-a-long with their loved ones during the challenge. With only 60 minutes to create an original dish, Beccy and her father Chris won the challenge with a delicious chicken roulade. After the challenge, the Top 5 said goodbye to their loved ones in order to face the most critical Elimination Challenge yet, with two home cooks being eliminated. At this critical point in the competition, the home cooks received a surprise visit from past MASTERCHEF CANADA winners, including: Eric Chong (Season 1); David Jorge (Season 2); Mary Berg (Season 3); and Trevor Connie (Season 4). The home cooks were tasked with creating a dish using a basket of ingredients curated by each of the champions. Michael G. delivered a solid dish that expanded his flavour repertoire; and despite his lack of baking experience, Andy presented an incredible dish full of flavours. The two emerged as winners of the challenge, confirmed to move on to the Top 3. Beccy delivered a dish that appeared sophisticated; however the judges agreed that the many flavours clashed. Despite the mismatch of flavours, the judges voted her through to the Top 3. Eugene and Nadia created average dishes that fell flat amongst the judges, resulting in both being sent home in a double elimination. Despite being eliminated, both Eugene and Nadia leave their unique mark as they exit the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen. In the next all-new episode of MASTERCHEF CANADA, “Pop-Up Star” (Tuesday, June 12 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 MT on CTV and CTV GO), the Top 3 home cooks face the first-ever MASTERCHEF CANADA Pop-Up Restaurant Challenge with 30 of Canada’s top food bloggers and influencers in attendance. The winner of the Pop-Up challenge advances to the finale, while the remaining two home cooks face an intense 3-way Dessert Pressure Test that will determine which home cook moves on to the finale, and who will be eliminated. The remaining Top 3 home cooks vying for the title of MASTERCHEF CANADA and the $100,000 cash prize are:- Michael Griffiths, Mathematician from Richmond Hill, Ont.
- Andy Hay, Small Business Owner from Dartmouth, N.S.
- Beccy Stables, Tile Setter Assistant from Sherwood Park, Alta.
