Edmonton’s CTV News Begins Broadcasting in High Definition, October 1

Edmonton, AB (Sept. 24, 2012) –CTV Edmonton begins broadcasting its local newscasts in high definition on Monday,Oct. 1. CTV MORNINGLIVE, CTV NEWS AT NOON, CTV NEWS AT FIVE, 5:30, and SIX, and CTVNEWS AT 11:30 will all be presented in HD.

 

“This is perhaps the most significant technologicaladvancement since we started producing local programs in colour in 1970,” saidBrad Hooper, Manager of Operations and Engineering, CTV Edmonton. “We’retransforming our building with entirely new technology, linked together with over30 kilometers of new cabling.”

 

After the transition, viewers who receiveCTV Edmonton’s signal in HD will enjoy a 1080i high definition digital picture.
