Kaegan Donnelly from Vancouver, B.C., is the eighth home cook eliminated from the competition.

The competition continues to boil as esteemed MASTERCHEF CANADA judges Michael Bonacini, Claudio Aprile, and Alvin Leung revealed that Kaegan Donnelly, a software sales representative from Vancouver, B.C., is the next home cook eliminated from the competition. Tonight’s episode marked the second time Keagan was eliminated from the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen after rejoining the home cooks as the MASTERCHEF CANADA: REDEMPTION winner. With five home cooks remaining in the competition, MASTERCHEF CANADA returns Tuesday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. MT on CTV and CTV GO. Tonight’s episode of MASTERCHEF CANADA saw the Top 6 home cooks take on a daunting Restaurant Takeover Team Challenge at MASTERCHEF CANADA judge Claudio Aprile’s downtown Toronto restaurant, Copetin. The home cooks were asked to team up and prepare two technically demanding appetizers and two entrées for a restaurant full of discerning dinner guests. As winners of last week’s Tag Team Challenge, Michael G. was named captain of the Red Team and Kaegan was put in charge of the Blue Team. As the cook got underway, Michael G. demonstrated great leadership with the division of tasks and assigning of roles amongst his team. The Blue Team, however, stumbled out of the gate as Kaegan struggled to handle the pressure of being Captain and the team fell behind on appetizers almost immediately. In order to get the struggling team back on track, Kaegen gave the reigns to Beccy who took over as team captain; helping the Blue team get to the finish line. The judges, taking into consideration the score cards provided by the dinner guests, met with the home cooks back in the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen to announce the results. Both teams had hits and misses but the Red Team was declared the winner, and safe from this week’s elimination. Kaegan, Beccy and Eugene of the Blue Team were forced to don the black aprons and tackle the Elimination Challenge: to create ten elegant and perfectly uniform classic French macarons. The three home cooks rushed to complete their task in 75 minutes. Kaegan, a self-professed ‘non-baker’, moved forward nervously, while Eugene and Beccy began with more confidence. After serving up some tasty treats, the judges delivered their results and declared Beccy the winner, for her perfect meringue and unique Bakewell tart flavoured macaron, with Eugene finishing second. Kaegan placed last and was ultimately eliminated from the competition. In the next all-new episode of MASTERCHEF CANADA, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” (Tuesday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. MT on CTV and CTV GO), the remaining home cooks must reimagine and rework their signature ingredient from their MASTERCHEF CANADA audition. The pressure of the competition intensifies as former MASTERCHEF CANADA winners drop by for a surprise visit, and the judges announce that a double elimination will lead to the Top 3 being determined.
