Extraordinary musician and global icon Sir Elton John has captivated international audiences for decades. And now, ahead of his final back-to-back Farewell Yellow Brick Road shows in Toronto this week, John sits down with ETALK anchor Danielle Graham for a Canadian exclusive interview, airing across three nights on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Wednesday, Oct. 23, and Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV.
Sharing a personal perspective on his remarkably successful year with ETALK, John discusses the launch of his biopic Rocketman, the release of his debut autobiography Me: Elton John, and his international farewell tour.
Below are some highlights from the exclusive interview:
John describes preparations for the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour:
“When I decided it was going to be the last hurrah as far as touring goes, I wanted to raise the level visually. I wanted to sing better, I wanted us to play better, I wanted to raise the bar,” said John. “This is the best Elton John you are ever going to see or you’ve seen.”
On his successful year:
“I am 72 years of age. I had the best year of my life professionally this year with the tour, the film, the book, and The Lion King coming out. It’s been an amazing year and I’m so grateful. If it’s taken me 72 years to get to this place, so be it!”
On the next chapter of his life:
“Who knows? The uncertainty of life is what I love, and I always keep a positive outlook,” said John. “I’m encouraged and I’m inspired by the new. I love the old, but I am looking for the new. And the new is always full of surprises.”
