Delving deep into important and meaningful conversations,
ETALK anchor Lainey Lui sits down with
John Legend in an intimate virtual interview for the all-new special,
ETALK PRESENTS: JOHN LEGEND, airing
Monday,
August 3 at
7:00 p.m. ET/PT on CTV,
7:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV2, and
everywhere CTV content can be found.
In Lui’s candid interview, the first-ever Black male to achieve Emmy®, Grammy®, Oscar®, and Tony® (EGOT) status, not only discusses his latest album,
Bigger Love and the power of music, but the power of standing up for equality, teaching his kids to do the same, and the silver lining he’s leaning on after being homebound during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
“During the last few weeks, John Legend’s new album
Bigger Love has played on repeat at my home; in these uncertain times, John’s music has been a reminder that our closest bonds can get us through this. It also reminded me of how attracted I am to my husband, ha!” said Lui. “I told John this during our interview and he said he gets that a lot – because his songs are intended to create intimacy and to heal. Hearing him share the stories behind these beautiful songs has deepened my appreciation of them.”
Finding new and innovative ways to perform during this time, Legend has participated in several virtual concerts, Instagram live performances, and television events in support of COVID-19 relief, including
ONE WORLD: TOGETHER AT HOME.
Most recently, Legend has donated to various charities and causes against anti-black racism and in support of free speech, including
A Night For Bigger Love, a live virtual concert experience held to benefit his organization,
Free America.
“Hopefully, this movement, this momentum that we have right now will turn into real change, real policy change, real practice change, and make our world a better place,” said Legend.
