Following the 92nd Academy Awards, ETALK’s non-stop coverage continues from L.A. with an exclusive look at the Elton John AIDS Foundation viewing party and post-OSCARS bash. ETALK’s L.A. correspondent Liz Trinnear reports directly from the party’s red carpet for the first time, interviewing celebrity guests, and bringing behind-the-scenes coverage to viewers on Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV. Viewers can also catch the OSCARS action in real-time by following #EtalkRedCarpet and @etalkCTV on Twitter. OSCAR-nominated performer Sir Elton John and his husband, Canadian David Furnish, host the 28th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation OSCARS after-party, celebrating the more than $68.2 million raised since the event’s inception. With Hollywood’s elite expected to attend the event, Trinnear shares what viewers can anticipate this year:
  1. As this will be your first time reporting from the Elton John AIDS Foundation OSCARS after-party, what are you most excited to experience?
There is nothing that beats the excitement of waiting for the next celebrity arrival. Personally, I love to see what they are wearing, their glam, who they arrive with, and then of course having the chance to speak with them! The celebrities who don’t receive an invite to the Oscars often show up to the Elton John bash. We see a lot of former Oscar nominees, stars from the big screen and small screen, reality show stars, musicians, supermodels, and more. People love Elton John and they love to support a great cause. When you mix those two together with the glam of the Oscars, it’s a recipe for a great night!
  1. What separates the Elton John after-party from other post-award show events you have attended in the past?
This after-party isn’t just a ‘party,’ it’s all in the name of a great cause that Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish have worked so hard to support. This is the 28th year of this event and the goal is to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which was founded in 1992 and helps fund local experts in 23 countries “to spread awareness, prevent infections and provide care and treatment for the most marginalized groups.” With that being said, there is extra reason to celebrate this year as Elton John himself is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for Rocketman.
  1. Hosting the event this year is the cast of QUEER EYE. With a high-fashion group of hosts and more celebrity attendees, who are you most excited to see on the red-carpet?
The list of hosts at this year’s party screams fashion, which is why I am unable to choose just one! The Fab 5 (cast of QUEER EYE) are all so dapper and put together, I look forward to seeing their elevated red carpet looks. Potential guest Heidi Klum almost always makes my best dressed lists. You can always count on her to bring a supermodel elegance to the night.
  1. With bold colours, bows, and voluminous fashion being seen all over the red carpet for the 2020 awards season, what fashion trends do you think we can expect to see on the stars at the after-party?
This award season has brought some pretty incredible fashion game so far but people often save their favourite looks for the Oscars. I’m talking bold colours, metallics, colour blocking, sequins, giant bows, long trains on gowns, and of course, some old fashion Hollywood glamour. Bring on the fun and see you on the carpet!
