EXCLUSIVE: ETALK Reporter and Much Host Liz Trinnear Interviews THE LAUNCH Chosen Artist Jayd Ink

Following the fourth episode of CTV’s THE LAUNCH , newly launched artist Jayd Ink’s single “Codes” debuted #7 on iTunes pop chart. Last week, in addition to THE LAUNCH charting its fourth consecutive #1 single at iTunes Canada with Episode 4’s chosen artist POESY’s “Soldier of Love”, the series also celebrates the milestone of surpassing more than 2.3 million streams globally for the original songs launched to date, including Logan Staats “The Lucky Ones”, Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine’s “Ain’t Easy”, and The Static Shift’s “Wide Awake”.

Amidst three full days of press, Jayd sat down with ETALK Reporter and Much Host Liz Trinnear to talk about working with Grammy^®-nominated Best New Artist of the Year Julia Michaels, Grammy^®-nominated record producer Ian Kirkpartick, and record mogul Scott Borchetta. Additionally, she discusses a call with an old friend that manifested in her auditioning for the show, her musical influences and how she’s enjoying her current wave of success. “I got the email [to audition for the show] and I wasn’t too sure… I was like ‘let’s just let this sit in the inbox for a while.’ Then I got a call from one of my friends that I heard from in a while [who told her about the show] and I thought it was kind of a blessing in disguise. Like what are the odds that you called me and then I have this sitting in my inbox? So, after she called me I emailed them back and I did the audition and here I am.” – Jayd Ink, when asked about how she manifested her appearance on the show. “I’m a hip hop head, and old school R&B. I love the Bad Boy era, the Jay Z, the Biggie; Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige — soul music in general. I’m very big with just R&B. I resonate with Lauryn Hill a lot. Just the passion behind her music, the performance, and she just has a rawness to her.” – Jayd Ink, when asked about her musical influences. “I don’t want to jinx it. I’m just really enjoying the moment, going with the flow with everything that’s happening and just kind of living right now… There’s no ending to anything, there’s just you get here and then there’s other things to do so it’s always a process.”  – Jayd Ink, when asked about what she would like to see happen in the next year.
