MUST-WATCH TITLES FOR FEBRUARY February 1 – Crave Celebrates Black History Month
  • To commemorate Black History Month, Crave highlights Black creators, talent, and cultural figures through a number of special collections, including: TV Series #ForTheCulture Collection (THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR, INSECURE, THE CHI, POWER, WATCHMEN, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY, and more); Black Movies Matter Collection (42, Harriet, Just Mercy, and The Photograph); Docs & Historical Drama Collection (40 YEARS A PRISONER, LENNOX LEWIS: THE UNTOLD STORY, and TIGER); and Black Directors Collections (featuring the work of Spike Lee and Tyler Perry). Other notable premieres during Black History Month include LENNOX LEWIS: THE UNTOLD STORY, BLACK ART: IN THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT, and MISS JUNETEENTH. 
February 1 – LENNOX LEWIS: THE UNTOLD STORY *Crave Original Documentary Premiere*
  • Premiering during Black History Month, the new Crave Original Documentary LENNOX LEWIS: THE UNTOLD STORY, premiering Monday, Feb. 1, takes an inside look at the career of the Canadian raised professional boxer, Lennox Lewis, from his rough upbringing to the Olympics and the professional ranks where he established himself as one of the greats in the history of the sport. Narrated by Dr. Dre, and utilizing never before seen footage from Lennox Lewis’ personal archives, the film highlights some of HBO’s greatest fight footage, giving viewers a glimpse behind the scenes into what makes a true champion.
February 1 – HBO’s THE INVESTIGATION *International Limited Series Premiere*
  • The new six-part Scandinavian limited drama series THE INVESTIGATION, premiering Monday, Feb. 1, is based on the real-life investigation into the 2017 murder of young Swedish journalist Kim Wall, which made headlines around the world as “the submarine case.” The drama follows the team of investigators and divers who worked tirelessly for six months in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles to gather evidence and bring justice for Wall’s family. Søren Malling (A Hijacking) leads the cast as Jens Møller, the Head of Homicide for the Copenhagen Police, alongside Pilou Asbæk (GAME OF THRONES) as the prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen. Pernilla August (Star Wars) and Rolf Lassgård (THE HUNTERS) star as Kim Wall’s parents, Ingrid and Joachim Wall.
February 2 – HBO’s FAKE FAMOUS *Documentary Premiere*
  • From first-time director and veteran journalist Nick Bilton, the new HBO documentary FAKE FAMOUS, which drops Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. ET, explores the industry of social media influencers through an innovative social experiment. The film’s journey into this world is driven by the casting of three people in Los Angeles who all have relatively small social followings and the attempt to grow them into famous influencers. By purchasing fake followers and an army of bots to “engage” with their social media, the newly made “influencers” discover both the wonders and costs of this unlikely, immersive lifestyle. 
February 4 – HBO Max’s SEARCH PARTY, Seasons 1-4
  • All four seasons of the HBO Max Original series SEARCH PARTY arrive on Crave on Thursday, Feb. 4. In the fourth and most recent season of the dark comedy, Dory (Alia Shawkat, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) is held prisoner by her psychotic stalker Chip (Cole Escola, MOZART IN THE JUNGLE), who is determined to make Dory believe that they are best friends. Meanwhile, Portia (Meredith Hagner, YOUNGER) is starring in a film about the trial, although not as herself; Elliott (John Early, Late Night) has switched party lines to become a far-right conservative talk show host; and Drew (John Reynolds, STRANGER THINGS) is trying to escape his dark past by working as a costumed cast member in a theme park. As the friends begin to connect the dots that Dory might not be touring Europe as her faked social media suggests, they must decide whether to put their traumatic pasts behind them and once again become a search party – but this time, for Dory.
February 9 – HBO’s BLACK ART: IN THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT (9 p.m. ET)
  • Firmly rooted in the history of the Black American experience, the HBO documentary BLACK ART: IN THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT, debuting Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET, is directed and produced by award-winning documentarian Sam Pollard (HBO’s ATLANTA MISSING AND MURDERED: THE LOST CHILDREN). A vital and illuminating introduction to the work of some of the foremost African American visual artists working today, including Theaster Gates, Kerry James Marshall, Faith Ringgold, Amy Sherald, and Carrie Mae Weems, the film is a testament to the indelible contributions of Black American artists in today’s contemporary art world. BLACK ART: IN THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT is executive produced by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Thelma Golden serves as consulting producer.
February 12 – THE NEW CORPORATION: THE UNFORTUNATELY NECESSARY SEQUEL *Crave Original Documentary Premiere*
  • Following its debut at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Crave Original Documentary THE NEW CORPORATION: THE UNFORTUNATELY NECESSARY SEQUEL begins streaming on Friday, Feb. 12. The sequel to the award-winning 2003 documentary THE CORPORATION, reveals how the corporate takeover of society is being justified by the sly rebranding of corporations as socially conscious entities. From gatherings of corporate elites to Davos; to climate change and spiralling inequality; to the rise of ultra-right leaders to COVID 19 and racial injustice; the film looks at corporations’ devastating power. From Joel Bakan and Jennifer Abbott, the film features interviews with Anand Giridharadas, Robert Reich, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, first-term US congresswoman Katie Porter, and more.
February 14 – LITTLE BIRDS *Series Premiere*
  • The TV adaptation of Anais Nin’s infamous collection of erotic short stories, LITTLE BIRDS, begins streaming on STARZ on Sunday, Feb. 14. Set in 1955, LITTLE BIRDS follows the story of heiress Lucy Savage (Juno Temple, Maleficent) as she arrives in Tangier hoping to find an unconventional life free from the societal restrictions she has had to follow her entire life. Now, she finds herself seeking the independence she desires. The series also stars, Yumna Marwan and Hugh Skinner (FLEABAG). LITTLE BIRDS follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Sundays on STARZ.
February 14 – HBO’s LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER *Season 8 Premiere* (11 p.m. ET)
  • HBO’s LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER returns for Season 8 on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 11 p.m. ET. Comedian John Oliver satirically covers the week in news, politics and current events in this Emmy®-winning variety series. LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLVER follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Sunday nights at 11 p.m. ET, and on-demand the following morning.
February 17 – MISS JUNETEENTH *Movie Premiere*
  • Following its international premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, award-winning film, MISS JUNETEETH, will be available for streaming, Wednesday, Feb. 17 on Crave. The story follows a former beauty queen and single mother as she prepares her rebellious teenage daughter for the “Miss Juneteenth” pageant. The critically acclaimed film, written and directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples (Queen Sugar), stars Nicole Beharie (42), Kendrick Sampson (HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER), and introducing Alexis Chikaeze.

February 22 – HBO’s BEARTOWN *International Series Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)
  • Based on Fredrik Backman’s bestselling novel of the same name, BEARTOWN, a new five-episode drama series from HBO Europe, premieres Monday, Feb. 22 at 9 p.m. ET. The Swedish series explores the hopes that bring a small community together, the secrets that tear it apart, the courage it takes for an individual to go against the group, and the consequences of how we raise our children. With a small-town Swedish junior ice-hockey team having a shot at winning the national semi-finals, all of the dreams of the locals now rest on the shoulders of a handful of teenage boys. The drama series stars Ulf Stenberg (LOVE ME), Miriam Ingrid (Get Ready With Me), and Oliver Dufåker. BEARTOWN follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Crave.

February 26 – IRRESISTIBLE *Movie Premiere*
  • Streaming Friday, Feb. 26, IRRESISTIBLE follows a Democratic strategist who helps a retired veteran run for mayor in a small, conservative Midwest town. Directed and written by Jon Stewart (THE DAILY SHOW), IRRESISTIBLE stars Steve Carell (THE MORNING SHOW), Rose Byrne (Neighbours), Chris Cooper (The Bourne Identity), and Brent Sexton (GOD FRIENDED ME).
  LATE JANUARY PREMIERES January 31 – HBO’s AXIOS *Season 4 Premiere* (6 p.m. ET)
  • HBO’s documentary-news series AXIOS returns for Season 4 Sunday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. ET, and continues to offer an exciting lens into the topics reshaping the world with the tagline, “what matters.” AXIOS fuses together the “Smart Brevity” of Axios’ digital reporting with cinematic, documentary storytelling. Every episode covers the most consequential and future-shaping topics and collisions across business, tech, media, politics, and science. Past interviews have included President Donald Trump, Senior Adviser to the President Jared Kushner, President of Iraq Barham Salih, Alphabet Inc. and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, GM CEO Mary Barra, Microsoft Co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, Apple CEO Tim Cook, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris. January 31 – HBO’s THE LADY AND THE DALE *Docuseries* (9 p.m. ET)
  • From Emmy-winning producers Mark and Jay Duplass (HBO’s ROOM 104) comes THE LADY AND THE DALE, the four-part docuseries exploring an audacious 1970s auto scam centered around a mysterious entrepreneur. The docuseries, which premieres with the first two episodes on Sunday, Jan. 31, and continues to air through February, follows the story of Elizabeth Carmichael, who rose to prominence when she released a fuel-efficient, three-wheeled vehicle during the 1970s gas crisis. As she wins over major carmakers and investors, a web of mystery unfolds regarding the car’s technology and Carmichael’s surprising past. A portrait of an extraordinary entrepreneur’s rise and eventual fall, the series explores a one-of-a-kind story of fraud, family, and identity. THE LADY AND THE DALE follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Crave.

  • SHOWTIME’s DESUS & MERO, the network’s first-ever late-night talk show, returns for Season 3 on January 31 with new episodes dropping weekly on Sunday and Thursday nights at 11 p.m. ET. Each episode of DESUS & MERO features co-hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero giving their take on the day’s hot topics and chatting with guests at the intersection of pop culture, sports, music, politics, and more.
