Up against a challenging Edmonton leg and cut-throat racing, compassionate father and daughter duo Simi and Ope fell behind the pack and were eliminated in tonight’s episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA when they arrived last to the Pit Stop at Muttart Conservatory. Simi and Ope, who are Burnaby, B.C.-based, had their cabs “stolen” twice by fellow racers and struggled during the curling Face Off, placing them behind the other teams. Tonight episode revealed the final three teams competing for the biggest grand prize in Canadian television history: Brent and Sean (Brothers, Musquodoboit Harbour, N.S.), Nick and Matt (Wrestling Teammates, Newmarket, Ont. and Stouffville, Ont.), and Gino and Jesse (Brothers, Hamilton).
“I’m so grateful that we were able to make it this far,” said a tearful Simi.
“I’m grateful to be in this race, but most especially, to be a Canadian,” said Ope. “We need to be proud of this truly great nation, a nation that gives immigrants the opportunity to excel.”
Simi added, “My dad became my best friend. He became my mentor. My dad’s Superman.”

Simi and Ope are the ninth team eliminated in Season 3 of CTV’s THE AMAZING RACE CANADA.
Episode 311 Recap From the Pit Start at Spotted Lake in Osoyoos, B.C., teams travelled more than 800 km to Edmonton, the capital of Alberta. Once there, teams had to locate City Hall and interrupt a wedding to receive their next clue. At the blind Detour at Edmonton Waste Management Centre, teams chose between paper or plastic, without knowing what each task entailed. In paper, racers filled two bins – one with plastic materials, and one with non-paper garbage, making sure each bin weighed at least 13 kilograms. In plastic, teams travelled to the Global Electric and Electronics Processing Facility and dismantled six dead television sets, carefully separating the parts that had to be shipped out and safely recycled, without breaking any parts of the television sets. After a few instances of cut throat cab theft among teams, or, “cabotage” as Matt dubbed it, racers arrived at the Ottewell Curling Club for the second Face Off challenge of the season. In the Face Off, teams competed head-to-head in one of Canada’s favourite winter sports, curling. After receiving a Petro-Points card loaded with 250,000 points, teams had to redeem all their points on only food and drinks within 90 seconds at a Petro-Canada station. At the Road Block at Kelly’s Saloon in Fort Edmonton Park, one team member had to step back in time, memorize a script, and correctly perform a Wild West saloon scene, all while dressed in a period costume. Brent and Sean arrived first at the Pit Stop at Muttart Conservatory, winning their second leg of the race. Host Jon Montgomery greeted them with their leg prize – Premium Economy round-trip tickets from Air Canada to Dubai, plus 10 million Petro-Points, redeemable for two years of free gas. Last night’s episode will encore this Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO – and is also now available on demand at CTV GO. Episodes 1–10 are also now streaming on CraveTV™, as well as previous seasons. Viewers can also catch Simi and Ope live on 104.5 CHUM FM morning show ROGER, DARREN, & MARILYN (weekdays at 5:30 a.m. ET), CP24 BREAKFAST (weekdays at 5 a.m. ET, and weekends at 7 a.m. ET), THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW (weekdays at 10 a.m. ET), and THE SOCIAL (weekdays at 1 p.m. ET) on Friday, Sept. 18, as they discuss their elimination from THE AMAZING RACE CANADA. The highs are high and the lows are low. It’s winner-take-all in the most extreme finale yet. - Gino and Jesse – Brothers – Hamilton
