 TORONTO (September 14, 2016) – A family reunion turns bittersweet in the riveting new drama QUEEN SUGAR, premiering Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. From Executive Producer Oprah Winfrey and acclaimed director Ava Marie DuVernay (Selma), the critically acclaimed, 13-episode, one-hour series chronicles the lives of the estranged Bordelon siblings who must rely on one another as they inherit their family sugarcane farm and attempt to rebuild both the land and their relationships. QUEEN SUGAR stars Rutina Wesley (TRUE BLOOD) as Nova, the eldest sibling in the Bordelon family and a world-wise activist; Dawn-Lyen Gardner (UNFORGETTABLE) as Charley, the savvy wife of a professional basketball star wrapped up in a scandal; and Kofi Siriboe (AWKWARD), as Ralph Angel, the youngest Bordelon sibling and a formerly incarcerated father in search of redemption. For a sneak peek at QUEEN SUGAR, click here. In the premiere episode, “First Things First” (Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. ET), Charley returns to her family sugarcane farm after her father’s stroke. There, she reunites with her siblings and together they must navigate their complicated lives to run the ailing farm. QUEEN SUGAR is produced for OWN by Warner Horizon Television. Executive producers are Ava DuVernay (Selma), Melissa Carter (MISTRESSES), and Oprah Winfrey. Led by the acclaimed DuVernay, who directed the first two episodes, all episodes in the first season are directed by women.
