By BILL HARRIS Special to The Lede With big stars such as Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Jodie Comer, Kit Harington, Kirsten Dunst, Russell Crowe, and Bill Hader leading the way, Bell Media TV programming has racked up 23 nominations for the 77th GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS®. The gripping HBO mini-series CHERNOBYL, which chronicled one of the most damaging man-made disasters in the history of the world, tied for the most GOLDEN GLOBE® nominations in the TV categories, with four: Best Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Jared Harris for Best Lead Actor in a Limited Series, Emily Watson for supporting actress, and Stellan Skarsgard for supporting actor. Close behind with three noms apiece were HBO’s SUCCESSION, BIG LITTLE LIES, and BARRY. Individual nods went to Brian Cox and Kieran Culkin for SUCCESSION, Streep – who broke her own Golden Globes record with her 34th nod – and Kidman for BIG LITTLE LIES, and Hader and Henry Winkler for BARRY. Having already won an EMMY® Award for her edgy portrayal of Villanelle in CTV Drama Channel’s KILLING EVE, Comer will be looking to add a Golden Globe to her trophy shelf with her nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Drama. KILLING EVE also got nominated for Best Television Drama, as did SUCCESSION and BIG LITTLE LIES. Mirren was nominated for her role in HBO’s CATHERINE THE GREAT, Dunst got a nod for SHOWTIME’s ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, Harington was recognized for his work in the final season of HBO’s GAME OF THRONES, and Crowe has something to crow about with his nomination for SHOWTIME’s THE LOUDEST VOICE. Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the Golden Globes air live on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020 on CTV.
