TORONTO (November 1, 2013) –TSN announced today that Gurdeep Ahluwalia has joined Canada’s Sports Leader on a full-time basis as the network’s newest anchor and reporter for SPORTSCENTRE, the country’s most-watched sports news and information show.

In his new full-time role at TSN, Ahluwalia will appear as both a SPORTSCENTRE host and reporter, contributing frequent stories from across the Toronto sports scene.

The Toronto-based broadcaster will make his debut appearance as a full-time member of the SPORTSCENTRE team on Friday, Nov. 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET on TSN.

“Gurdeep is personable and charismatic, and he brings to TSN both a compelling anchor presence as well as considerable reporting skills,” said Mark Milliere, Senior Vice-President of Production, TSN. “He will be another valuable and trusted voice on our all-star talent roster. We’re excited to add him to the team on a dedicated basis.”

Ahluwalia joins TSN from CP24, Toronto’s #1 source for breaking news, where he garnered a loyal following in his role as weekend co-host of CP24 BREAKFAST and as a weekday reporter and anchor. While at CP24, Ahluwalia made occasional appearances on TSN as an anchor and reporter.

Prior to joining CP24, Ahluwalia spent time at a variety of news and sports media organizations across the Greater Toronto Area, including starting out as a story editor at SPORTSCENTRE. He becomes the latest in a long line of TSN on-air voices whose broadcast careers began in the SPORTSCENTRE newsroom, joining a list that includes Rod Smith, Dave Randorf, Jay Onrait, John Lu, and Steve Kouleas.

A graduate of the Mass Media Communications and Sociology program at McMaster University, Ahluwalia worked as sports editor for the campus newspaper and hosted/produced a sports talk radio show on 93.3 CFMU McMaster Campus Radio.
