Nominated for seven Primetime Emmy® Awards this year, HBO’s drama series BOARDWALK EMPIRE returns for its eight-episode, fifth and final season. From Terence Winter (THE SOPRANOS) and Academy Award®-winner Martin Scorsese, BOARDWALK EMPIRE is set in the Prohibition era and chronicles the life and times of Enoch “Nucky” Thompson (Steve Buscemi, THE SOPRANOS), the undisputed leader of Atlantic City. The first four seasons took place during the 1920s, while the final season, which takes place in the depths of the Depression in 1931, follows Nucky as he recalls his Atlantic City roots and plots a post-Prohibition future.
REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER and BILL MAHER: LIVE FROM D.C.
Premieres Friday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET/MT
REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER resumes its twelfth season on September 12 from Washington D.C., at a special time (9 p.m. ET/MT). The episode will be immediately followed by the new stand-up special BILL MAHER: LIVE FROM D.C. at 10 p.m. ET/MT. Beginning Sept. 19, the series continues in its regular Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/MT timeslot. Allowing Maher to offer his unique perspective on contemporary issues, each episode of REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER includes an opening monologue, roundtable discussions with panelists, and interviews with guests.

Taping September 12 and 13 at the Stade de France in Paris on the only international leg of their current tour, this HBO concert event features the superstars performing more than 40 songs. Although Beyoncé and JAY Z have recorded numerous hit songs together, including “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love,” and have been special guests on each other’s tours, BEYONCÉ JAY Z ON THE RUN marks the first time the married couple has toured together on the same bill.
Premieres Friday, Oct. 17 at 11 p.m. ET/MT online and on demand, followed by its television premiere at 12 midnight ET/MT
Directed by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, FOO FIGHTERS: SONIC HIGHWAYS is an eight-part documentary series that digs deep into the heart and soul of America’s musical identity. Each one-hour episode is devoted to a different American musical landmark, chronicling the history, cultural environment, and people that define each city’s unique musical identity. Beginning Oct. 24, FOO FIGHTERS: SONIC HIGHWAYS moves to its regular Fridays at 11 p.m. ET/MT timeslot on HBO Canada.
Premieres November 2014
Starring Lisa Kudrow (FRIENDS), and created and executive produced by Michael Patrick King (SEX AND THE CITY) and Kudrow, THE COMEBACK, which originally debuted on HBO in 2005, returns as a six-episode comedy. The series follows Valerie Cherish, fading TV “It Girl” and pioneer of reality television who was once so desperate to stay in the spotlight that she allowed cameras to follow her every move as she appeared on a new sitcom, with disastrous results. New episodes follow Valerie as she continues her search to attain the spotlight, which illuminates a whole new series of problems when she achieves the visibility she wants.
GETTING ON, Season 2
Premieres November 2014
From creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer (BIG LOVE), GETTING ON returns for its six-episode second season. Blending outrageous humour with unexpected moments of tenderness, the critically acclaimed series follows the daily lives of nurses and doctors as they struggle with the darkly comic realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system, skewering the petty bureaucracies of modern medical practice in America. The series stars Laurie Metcalf (THE BIG BANG THEORY), Alex Borstein (FAMILY GUY), Niecy Nash (RENO 911!), and Mel Rodriguez (COMMUNITY).
THE NEWSROOM, Season 3
Premieres November 2014
Created by Oscar® winner Aaron Sorkin, (The Social Network, THE WEST WING) THE NEWSROOM follows the members of a cable news team on their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of a fickle audience, corporate mandates, and tangled personal relationships. Sorkin, Scott Rudin, and Alan Poul return as executive producers, with Paul Lieberstein (THE OFFICE) joining the series as an executive producer. Returning cast regulars include Jeff Daniels (The Squid and the Whale), who received a 2013 Emmy® for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Will McAvoy; Emily Mortimer (HBO’s DOLL & EM); Sam Waterston (LAW & ORDER); John Gallagher, Jr. (HBO’s OLIVE KITTERIDGE); Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World); Thomas Sadoski (Wild); Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire); and Olivia Munn (Magic Mike).
