TORONTO (December 12, 2023) – CTV announced today that
Heather Butts has been named Weekend Anchor of
CTV NATIONAL NEWS.
With nearly 15 years’ experience covering breaking news stories in communities across Canada, Butts is currently Toronto Correspondent for
CTV NATIONAL NEWS. She assumes the role of weekend anchor previously held by Sandie Rinaldo, who now leads the early evening edition of
CTV NATIONAL NEWS, weekdays at 5:30 p.m.

CTV NATIONAL NEWS, following in the footsteps of pioneering journalist Sandie Rinaldo, while at the same time continuing to work with Omar Sachedina and our fantastic news team,” said Butts. “

As Toronto Correspondent for
CTV NATIONAL NEWS, Butts has covered numerous major stories unfolding across the GTHA in recent years, including the network’s extensive coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, while also producing features on autism, healthcare, and affordability. Butts travelled to Saskatchewan to cover the 2022 mass stabbing at James Smith Cree Nation, and to Rome for the funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Throughout her career, Butts has also covered a wide range of breaking news and major events, including provincial and federal elections, the Fredericton mass shooting in 2018, and Hurricane Dorian.
Since joining the CTV News team in 2014, Butts has served in multiple roles including anchor, reporter, and morning host at local stations across Canada including CTV Barrie and CTV Atlantic.
