9 p.m. – THE EDUCATION OF MOHAMMAD HUSSEIN
Through the eyes of children, THE EDUCATION OF MOHAMMAD HUSSIEN is a documentary that examines what it is like to come of age as a Muslim in the United States, a decade after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
Friday, Jan. 10
11 p.m. – BANSHEE – Season 2, Episode 1 of 10 – *Season Premiere*
In the aftermath of their bloody shootout with Rabbit (Ben Cross, Star Trek), Lucas (Antony Starr, LOWDOWN), Carrie (Ivana Milicevic, Casino Royale), and the Banshee Sheriff’s Department (BSD) are interrogated by FBI special agent Jim Racine (Zeljko Ivanek, Argo), who metes out punishment that may, or may not, fit the crimes. Meanwhile, Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen, The Miracle) sets his sights on persuading Rebecca (Lili Simmons, TRUE DETECTIVE) to return to his care.

9 p.m. – TRUE DETECTIVE – Season 1, Episode 1 of 8 – *Series Premiere*
Former Louisiana State CID partners Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson) and Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) give separate statements to a pair of investigators about the murder of a prostitute, Dora Lange, 17 years earlier. As they look back, details of the crime, replete with occult overtones, are accompanied by insights into the detectives’ volatile partnership and personal lives.
10 p.m. – GIRLS – Season 3, Episodes 1 & 2 – *Season Premiere*
In Season 3 of the Golden Globe® Award-winning comedy series, Hannah (Lena Dunham) is now in a committed relationship with Adam (Adam Driver, Lincoln), and the two are settling into a newfound domesticity in her apartment.

11 p.m. – BANSHEE – Season 2, Episode 2 of 10
Spurned by Deva (Ryann Shane, LIGHTS OUT) and Gordon (Rus Blackwell, Monster), Carrie is forced to take up a new residence. With his leadership abilities questioned by rival George Hunter (Gil Birmingham, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1) and the tribal council, Alex (Anthony Ruivivar, BEWARE THE BATMAN) ramps up his efforts to recover the money stolen in the casino heist. Siobhan (Trieste Kelly Dunn, CANTERBURY’S LAW) relives a nightmare when her ex-husband, Breece Connors (Peter Scanavino, Happythankyoumoreplease), shows up looking to reconnect.

Under pressure to land a suspect in the Lange murder, Quesada (Kevin Dunn, VEEP) warns Hart and Cohle that they might be replaced by three detectives from a new task force. The pair lobbies for extra time to follow up on a lead that takes them from a rural cathouse to an incinerated church. With his marriage to Maggie (Michelle Monaghan, Source Code) already strained by work, Hart finds respite away from home.

10:30 p.m. – LOOKING – Season 1, Episode 1 of 8 – *Series Premiere*
After a park-cruising experiment is derailed by a phone call, 29-year-old video-game designer Patrick (Jonathan Groff, Frozen) meets up with his best friends, roommate Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez, SMASH), 31, and Dom (Murray Bartlett, GUIDING LIGHT), 39, to discuss the impending wedding of his ex. The next morning, Agustín agrees to move in with his boyfriend, Frank (O-T Fagbenle, MATERIAL GIRL), in Oakland, though he wonders if domesticating is the right move. Dom, who’s been a waiter at the same restaurant for years, tells his roommate, Doris (Lauren Weedman, HUNG) he’s thinking of reconnecting with old flame Ethan (Derek Ray, MAD MEN), who has a successful real-estate career. Later, Patrick meets up with OkCupid date Benjamin (Matt Wilkas, Gayby); after the date goes south, Patrick is chatted up on the Muni by Richie (Raúl Castillo, Cold Weather), a cute barber who also works the door at a Latin drag club in the Mission.

11 p.m. – BANSHEE – Season 2, Episode 3 of 10
A shocking murder near an Amish farm fractures relations between the Kinaho tribe and the Amish, who are forced to rely on Proctor to fend off a vengeful mob. Investigating the crime on Kinaho turf, Lucas and his deputies find themselves confronted by uncooperative gang members and their imposing leader, Chayton Littlestone (Geno Segers, PAIR OF KINGS). Meanwhile, Carrie welcomes an unexpected visitor, while Lucas deals with the sudden appearance of a most unwelcome one.

9 p.m. – TRUE DETECTIVE – Season 1, Episode 3 of 8
A hidden image at the burned-out church leads Cohle and Hart to a tent-revival minister whose parishioners finger a scarred “tall man” seen with Dora Lange. Brought in for interrogation, a sex offender matching the description is quickly dismissed by Cohle, despite offering a confession. Hart gets sidetracked after Maggie sets Cohle up with a friend at a C&W bar. Looking to establish a pattern of murder, Cohle pores over old case files, finding a connection with a woman assumed to have drowned years earlier.
10 p.m. – GIRLS – Season 3, Episode 3 of 12
10:30 p.m. – LOOKING – Season 1, Episode 2 of 8
When Dom helps Agustín move his belongings to Frank’s house in Oakland, the two question whether Patrick is capable of a casual sexual relationship, despite his assertion that he’s tired of searching for a boyfriend. Back in San Francisco, Dom meets up with his ex-boyfriend Ethan, and seems intrigued when he tells him he’d like to “start over” as friends. Later, Patrick and Richie go out on a date, but a tipsy Patrick becomes a little too focused on personal details.

9 p.m. – HERBLOCK: THE BLACK AND THE WHITE
HERBLOCK: THE BLACK AND THE WHITE is a documentary that explores the career of Herbert Block, whose work at The Washington Post spanned fifty-five years and thirteen presidents, during which he claimed three Pulitzer Prizes, the Medal of Freedom, and played a role in Nixon’s resignation.
Friday, Jan. 31
11 p.m. – BANSHEE – Season 2, Episode 4 of 10
Following a lead from Brock (Matt Servitto, YOUR PRETTY FACE IS GOING TO HELL), Lucas visits a strict Amish schoolteacher who might have insights into the murder of Kinaho tribe member Lana Cleary (Amber Midthunder, Sunshine Cleaning) and the disappearance of Solomon Bowman (newcomer Gunnar Carrigan). Meanwhile, Emmett (Demetrius Grosse, JUSTIFIED) and Siobhan find transferring Chayton more difficult than expected and Rebecca copes with the pain of her parents’ rejection. Proctor offers Alex a peace offering, and Nola (Odette Annable, BREAKING IN) delivers a final blow for justice.
