Finding innovative ways to connect and support their listeners, iHeartRadio Canada stations across Ontario continue to thank local businesses and community heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic by launching new initiatives and campaigns that offer support to those who need it most.
Here are some of the initiatives iHeartRadio Canada stations are currently taking to support communities in Ontario:
Central Ontario
- VIRGIN MORNINGS WITH ADAM WYLDE, TJ & JAX encourage listeners to share stories of courageous frontline and essential workers through the Frontline Friends initiative, offering the chance to win a three-month Crave subscription and $100 Uber Eats gift card.
- Every Monday, each member of VIRGIN MORNINGS gives a shout-out to a small local business that can deliver to their home for What I’m Ordering Tonight.
- 99.9 Virgin Radio hosts VIRTUAL PROM PARTY with DJ starting from Scratch on Friday, May 15.
- CHUM 104.5 thanks local frontline and essential workers with the We’re All in This Together initiative, shouting out various workers for their help during COVID-19.
- CHUM 104.5’s Jamar McNeil, DJs from his home for JAMAR’S HOUSE PARTY on Friday nights from 8-10 p.m. ET, featuring two hours of non-stop party music, streamed on Instagram.
- Pure Country 106, 104.1 The Dock, 102.9 K-Lite, Funny 820 AM, 105.7 EZ Rock, 97.7 HTZ FM and NEWSTALK 610 CKTB stations launch What’s Open, an active directory of local businesses with modified operations on iHeartRadio.ca.
- Buy Local campaigns are also available on Pure Country 105 and Energy 99.7’s webpages on iHeartRadio.ca
- Pure Country 106 and 104.1 The Dock share a weekly salute to heroes in their community, inviting listeners to nominate and recognize frontline and essential workers.
- Recognizing the heroes in their community, 102.9 K-Lite FM launches DAILY HERO HIGH FIVE, sending a special nominee a $100 grocery gift card courtesy of Longo’s.
- Launching Frontline Fridays, 97.7 HTZ FM salutes frontline and essential workers, delivering a $250 grocery gift card to one special person each week.
- 105.7 EZ Rock launches the Family Food contest, providing dinner from a local restaurant.
- #StayHome Pure Country 105 Video Dance Party is back on Victoria Day Long Weekend, live streaming some of today’s biggest stars, and inviting listeners to submit videos requesting songs and donate to PRHC Foundation in support of their COVID-10 response effort.
Western Ontario
- All iHeartRadio stations in Kitchener and London participate in ‘London Love’ and ‘Kitchener Waterlove’ campaigns, thanking frontline workers who are keeping communities healthy and functioning.
- Pure Country London, 97.5 Virgin Radio, 105.3 Virgin Radio, NEWSTALK 1290 CJBK, AM800, 93.9 The River, New Rock 89X, 92.3 The Dock, and AM580 share Buy Local webpages on iHeartRadio.ca, in support of businesses still open in their communities.
- Pure Country London, 97.5 Virgin Radio, 99.5 KFUN, and CTV London recognize the graduating classes of 2020 all day long on Thursday, May 14 by sharing pictures and special messages from graduating students and their loved ones on CTV News at 6.
- Bringing the party back to prom, 97.5 Virgin Radio and Virgin Radio 105.3 host VIRTUAL PROM PARTY with DJ starting from Scratch on Friday, May 15.
- 105.3 Virgin Radio shares Curb Your Appetite on Facebook, featuring food delivered from local restaurants and speaking with chefs and owners.
- AM800, New Rock 89X, 93.9 The River, and AM580 have teamed up with the United Way to raise funds for their Emergency Action Food Drive.
- AM800 launched #WECARECKLW, recognizing local heroes working to make a difference in their community during this time.
Eastern Ontario
- Pure Country Kingston and 98.3 FLY FM have received audio notes from artists and listeners thanking and recognizing the individuals helping them during COVID-19. Country artists such as Tim McGraw, Dean Brody, High Valley, and Jess Moskaluke have contributed.
- 103.7 BOB FM, 104.9 JR FM, Pure Country 94, Pure Country 96.7, and 580 CFRA News Talk Radio launch shout-out initiatives, recognizing the frontline and essential workers in their community.
- Continuing to encourage listeners to buy local, 104.9 JR FM, 91.9 BOB FM, Pure Country 94, MAJIC 100, 580 CFRA News Talk Radio, Pure Country 96.7 provide a list of local businesses that remain open in their communities on iHeartRadio.ca.
- 91.9 BOB FM encourages listeners to nominate essential businesses in their community to win a meal from Pizza Hut.
- MAJIC 100 host, Angie Poirier brings listeners ALL THE FEELS with inspiring stories and good news, weekdays at 8:55 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m. ET.
Northern Ontario
- Supporting their community businesses, Pure Country 91.7 promotes a Buy Local webpage on iHeartRadio.ca.
