– Toronto FC forward and member of the U.S. national men’s soccer team moonlights as co-host for one day on SPORTSCENTRE –
Two-time FIFA World Cup player and TFC forward Jozy Altidore joins Canada’s Sports Leader for a one-day co-hosting role during the 6 p.m. ET edition of SPORTSCENTRE on Wednesday, Mar. 4.
In his new one-day role at TSN, Altidore will appear as a co-host alongside veteran anchor Rod Smith. As co-host, Altidore will read highlight packs, interview guests, and breakdown TSN’s Top 10.
“He’s great on the pitch, I just hope that translates in front of the camera,” said Kristian Jack, analyst for MLS on TSN. “Or maybe I don’t – I don’t want to be out of a job. We’ll just have to tune in to find out.” “Jozy is a proven competitor season-after-season with TFC and his national team,” said Nathalie Cook, Vice President, TSN. “If he brings the same dedication and work ethic to the broadcast studio as he does to the soccer field, he’ll have no problem being teammates with Rod. We are thrilled to add him to our talent roster, even for one-day!” The 30-year-old has been a core part of TFC since 2015, scoring the game-winning goal that earned the club the MLS Cup in 2017 and dubbed the MLS Cup MVP. Altidore has also earned 76 caps with the United States national team, and has scored 25 goals for his country. He took part in both the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup squads. In addition, Altidore scored in a record five consecutive matches from June 2 to August 14, 2013 for the U.S. national team. Altidore tests his co-hosting abilities during SPORTSCENTRE on Wednesday, Mar. 4 at 6 p.m. ET on TSN, the TSN App, and TSN.ca.
