JULY 21 – HBO Max’s RAP SH!T *Series Premiere*
- The Max Original comedy series RAP SH!T, from Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominee Issa Rae (INSECURE), debuts Thursday, July 21 with two episodes. In RAP SH!T, two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion),reunite to form a rap group. The eight-episode season follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Thursdays.
JULY 22 – LAST NIGHT IN SOHO *Movie Premiere*
- From acclaimed director Edgar Wright, and starring Matt Smith, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Thomasin McKenzie, the well-rated psychological thriller LAST NIGHT IN SOHO premieres Friday, July 22. In LAST NIGHT IN SOHO, Eloise (McKenzie), an aspiring fashion designer, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer, Sandie (Taylor-Joy). But, the glamour is not all it appears to be, and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.
JULY 27 – HBO’s WE MET IN VIRTUAL REALITY *Documentary Premiere*
- HBO Documentary Films’ WE MET IN VIRTUAL REALITY, from director Joe Hunting, debuts Wednesday, July 27 at 9 p.m. ET. Filmed entirely inside the world of virtual reality (VR), this immersive and revealing documentary roots itself in several unique communities within VR Chat, a burgeoning virtual reality platform. Through observational scenes captured in real-time, in true documentary style, the film reveals the growing power and intimacy of several relationships formed in the virtual world, many of which began during the COVID-19 lockdown, while so many in the physical world were facing intense isolation. WE MET IN VIRTUAL REALITY tenderly documents the stories of people experiencing love, loss and unexpected connection, expressing vulnerability around mental health struggles, and questions about identity, offering a hyper-real journey into the human experience of an online world that may soon shape the future.
