June 17 – HBO Max’s GENERA+ION *Mid-Season Premiere*
- On Thursday, June 17, the HBO Max Original dramedy GENERA+ION returns with three new episodes. GENERA+ION is a dark yet playful half-hour series following a diverse group of high school students whose exploration of modern sexuality (devices and all) tests deeply entrenched beliefs about life, love, and the nature of family in their conservative community. Season 1 of HBO Max’s GENERA+ION continues with two episodes on June 24; two episodes on July 1; and one episode on July 8.
- The two-hour VICE documentary VICE VERSA: CHYNA premieres Thursday, June 17 at 9 p.m. ET. It is the first-ever documentary about the rise and fall of one of wrestling’s most fascinating figures whose life was cut short tragically in 2016 following a fatal overdose. Viewers get unprecedented access to exclusive videos from the last year of Chyna’s life, salvaged footage from the abandoned 2015 documentary The Reconstruction of Chyna, as well as interviews from insiders in Chyna’s life including her sister Kathy Hamilton; her mother Jan LaQue; Chyna’s former fiancé and WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman; renowned wrestling star and friend Mick Foley; noted addiction medicine specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Chyna during ‘Celebrity Rehab,’ and worked to get her treatment during her final year; celebrated wrestler Billy Gunn; noted wrestling pundit Vincent Russo; and many close confidants and members of Chyna’s inner circle.
- The legendary Billie Holiday, one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, spent much of her career adored by fans across the world, all while the Federal Department of Narcotics targeted her with an undercover sting operation led by black Federal Agent Jimmy Fletcher, with whom she had a tumultuous affair. Star of the film, Andra Day, was nominated for an Oscar, and won a Golden Globe® for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her performance. Inspired by Holiday’s life story, THE UNITED STATES VS. BILLIE HOLIDAY streams Friday, June 18, and intimately examines her struggles with addiction, fame, and heartbreaking love.
- Oscar® winners Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto star in crime drama, THE LITTLE THINGS, streaming Friday, June 18. Set in the 90s, the film follows Deputy Sheriff Joe “Deke” Deacon (Washington) who teams up with a sergeant (Malek) to hunt a serial killer in Los Angeles. As the investigation unfolds, it dredges up Deke’s painful past.
- The sweeping eight-part drama series DOMINA takes place during one of the most provocative periods in Roman history. Filmed in Rome, DOMINA follows the extraordinary rise of Emperor Augustus Caesar’s third wife, Livia Drusilla, played by Kasia Smutniak (From Paris With Love). The series brings to life the exploits, affairs, and battles for political clout that surrounded the couple, who sat at the heart of the Roman Empire. DOMINA also stars Liam Cunningham (GAME OF THRONES) and Isabella Rossellini (Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart). The full season drops Friday, June 18.
- Starring Hilary Swank and Michael Ealy, the thriller mystery FATALE begins streaming on Friday, June 18. After a wild one-night stand, a successful sports agent watches his perfect life slowly disappear when he discovers the sexy and mysterious woman he risked everything for is a determined police detective who entangles him in her latest investigation. As he desperately tries to put the pieces together, he falls deeper into her trap, risking his family, his career, and even his life.
- Season 1 of the VICE docuseries THE DARK SIDE OF FOOTBALL drops Friday, June 18. The first expansion of the “Dark Side” franchise, the six-episode, one-hour series shines a light on stories that live in the shadows of America’s favourite sport, exploring the tension between America’s undying love of the game, and its ability to corrupt and damage those who live and die for it. Throughout the season, THE DARK SIDE OF FOOTBALL explores the sometimes-flawed men behind the masks; the coaches, teams and leagues who control their fates; and the untold story behind bizarre and tragic off-the-field events; and facts that are often hidden to shield fans from discovering unsettling truths about the game they love.
- HBO’s I’LL BE GONE IN THE DARK, the critically-acclaimed documentary series that explores writer Michelle McNamara’s investigation into the dark world of the violent predator she dubbed “The Golden State Killer”, returns with a special episode Monday, June 21 at 10 p.m. ET. This episode brings shocking new revelations to light in the Lombardo case, and features the late McNamara’s own archival research and voice recordings which led to her return to Oak Park in 2013, and interviews with residents of present-day. The special also highlights the trauma that persists when a crime goes unsolved, with McNamara’s work standing as a stark reminder of the importance of citizen sleuths who remain dogged in their search for the truth.
