everywhere CTV content can be found.
In Beeksma’s spirited and honest conversation with Perry, the popstar discusses her pregnancy with newborn daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, new music, and the importance of maintaining mental health and wellness, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Discussing the birth of her two “babies” this summer, including her daughter and brand new album
Smile, Perry shares how she feels about the uncertainty surrounding this year and leading up to the album’s release.
“It’s overwhelming,” said Perry. “This year has really been about the loss of certainty and figuring out how to surrender.”
“The fans get an album and I get a baby…I’m just glad to be able to put it out because for me this record really is a touchstone of resilience.”
An advocate for mental health and wellness, Perry shares why she continues to demonstrate vulnerability through her music and her hopes for the album’s ability to connect with others.
“I can only lead by example and speak from my own experience with this music, but I think the more raw and real and vulnerable you are, the more connected you are to the music” said Perry.
“[Music’s] really helped me understand my feelings. It’s spoken for me when I didn’t know how to explain what I was feeling. So, if this record can be something like that for anyone else, then great!”
