Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, Que. to Host TSN and RDS as the Seventh Stop on the 2013 Kraft Celebration Tour, August 22

TORONTO (July 17, 2013) – TSN and RDS join fans in la belle province this summer, as Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, Que. has been named the seventh winning community in this year’s Kraft Celebration Tour.  As part of the Kraft Celebration Tour, Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois receives $25,000 to put towards upgrading the town’s multisport complex.

Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois will also host a special edition of SPORTSCENTRE featuring anchors Rod Smith and Kate Beirness when they broadcast live from the Quebec community on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. ET on TSN.  Also broadcasting live from Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois is SPORTS 30 LE MAGAZINE on RDS, as anchors Luc Bellemare, Valérie Sardin, and reporter Geneviève Langlois join TSN on location for the Kraft Celebration Tour, while Marc Labrecque provides special reports from Montreal as he covers the Alouettes.

Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois is located southwest of Montreal on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Founded in 1867 and home to 800 people, the farming community also boasts a number of vineyards.

The $25,000 prize money from the Kraft Celebration Tour will go towards upgrading and repairing the town’s multisport complex.

Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois was named to the Kraft Celebration Tour after winning a national, head-to-head online vote over L’Assomption, Que. Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois brought home the victory with 110,702 votes, while L’Assomption amassed a total of 38,079 votes in support of its nomination.

Voting
Canadians can decide the other winning communities for the Kraft Celebration Tour, with one pair of communities featured each weekday through July 19. Canadians can visit KraftCelebrationTour.ca or Tourneedecelebrationkraft.ca to vote for their favourite communities (see below for match-ups and scheduled voting dates).  Voting is unlimited and runs from 12 noon ET each day for a 24-hour period.

During the voting period, SPORTSCENTRE on TSN and SPORTS 30 on RDS profile each match-up with a look at the duelling communities and their proposed community projects. Results of each vote will be announced the following weekday on SPORTSCENTRE and SPORTS 30.

The other communities selected as finalists for the Kraft Celebration Tour, along with their match-ups and scheduled voting dates, are as follows:

• Today (Wednesday, July 17) – Rocanville, Sask. vs. Esterhazy, Sask.
• Thursday, July 18 – St. James Town (Toronto) vs. Wilmot, Ont.
• Friday, July 19 – Dryden, Ont. vs. Fort Frances, Ont.
