Banff, Alta. (January 11, 2014) – Once again Kevin Martin proved why he is the all-time TSN skins leader, winning $11,500 in prize money and a spot in the TRAVELERS ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME Presented by Pinty’s final following a semifinal victory over Brad Jacobs earlier this evening at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, Alta.

The highly-anticipated TRAVELERS ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME Presented by Pinty’s final airs tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 12) at 1 p.m. ET live on TSN. With $57,000 up for grabs, Martin will face off against three-time Brier champion and two-time World champion Jeff Stoughton following his semifinal win over Brad Gushue on Saturday afternoon.
In front of a packed house at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre, Martin played alongside an All-Star team featuring Ryan Fry (Third), Carter Rycroft (Second), and Mark Nichols (Lead). Jacobs’ All-Star team included Jon Mead (Third), Marc Kennedy (Second), and Craig Savill (Lead).
Martin’s All-Star team dominated the day’s second semifinal, racking up prize money in four of the first five ends. They scored the victory on the strength of the play of third Ryan Fry, whose decisive shot-making was critical in helping the team secure skins in the draw’s second and fifth ends. In similar fashion to the event’s first semifinal won by Jeff Stoughton, Martin’s team secured victory in the seventh end. Jacobs’ team did not go home empty handed, winning skins in the sixth and eighth ends to bring their game tally to $9,500.
Martin won five skins and takes home $11,500 in prize money. After today’s draw, Martin’s career TSN skins game winnings now total $436,850. Jacobs takes home $9,500 after his first appearance at a TSN skins game.
