TORONTO (June 14, 2019) – Bell Media’s Much Studios announced today that the intimate and thought-provoking original documentary POSITIVE receives its television premiere Saturday, June 22 at 8:30 p.m. ET on MTV and is available for streaming on Crave Sunday, June 23. The special is also available for streaming now on Much’s YouTube Channel, MTV.ca, Much.com, and SnackableTV.
Following the success of the 2018 Much Studios’ online mini-series MUCH PRIDE, which garnered a 2019 Canadian Screen Award nomination in the Best Web Program or Series, Non-Fiction category, the brand-new half-hour documentary POSITIVE, moderated by Much Studios’ Michael Rizzi, profiles the lives of five diverse HIV+ millennials through a roundtable discussion and stigma-busting personal narratives.
As part of Pride month, Much Studios continues to cover important topics in the LGBQT+ community with honest and eye-opening conversations, with the goal to correct negative perceptions and demonstrate how dialogue can make a difference towards understanding and inclusivity. POSITIVE explores themes of identity, community, sex, and the ongoing misconceptions surrounding HIV, while tackling the stigmatized virus through insightful, intimate, and engaging vignettes and dialogue.
POSITIVE features the stories of five HIV+ millennials including Cameron, a multidisplinary artist and producer; Julio, an active voice and leader within the fashion industry; Justin, a recent graduate and church choir director; Stuart, a 27-year-old student and volunteer for the People With AIDS Foundation; and Xica, a Trans and HIV advocate.
POSITIVE is produced and edited by Max Kopanygin (MUCH PRIDE).
