TORONTO (February 12, 2014) – TSN takes it to the rack as a trio of Toronto Raptors and many of basketball’s brightest stars touch down in New Orleans this weekend for the league’s annual showcase of skill, speed, and slam dunks during NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND, live on TSN and TSN2 from Feb. 14-16.
Coverage begins this Friday (Feb. 14) at 9 p.m. ET on TSN2 with the NBA RISING STARS CHALLENGE, featuring the league’s best rookie and sophomore players – including Canadian rookie Kelly Olynyk of Kamloops, B.C. and Toronto Raptors’ second-year forward Jonas Valanciunas.
The action continues Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on TSN2 with NBA ALL-STAR SATURDAY NIGHT during a test of skill and showmanship throughout four All-Star Skills Competitions – Shooting Stars, Skills Challenge with Toronto Raptors’ guard DeMar DeRozan, Three-Point Contest, and the fan-favourite Slam Dunk competition with Toronto Raptors’ forward Terrence Ross looking to defend his title.
Before the competition gets underway, Cabral ‘Cabbie’ Richards primes fans for the event during the 2013 NBA SPRITE SLAM DUNK REWIND FEATURING TERRENCE ROSS at 7:30 p.m. ET, as Cabbie and Ross review his Slam Dunk win in 2013 – his rookie year.
Wrapping up the weekend is the highly-anticipated NBA ALL-STAR GAME on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on TSN, with top vote-getter and last year’s NBA MVP LeBron James leading the Eastern Conference against a Western Conference squad headed by perennial all-star Kevin Durant. Toronto Raptors will be represented by guard DeMar DeRozan, making his NBA ALL-STAR GAME debut.
SPORTSCENTRE’s Matthew Scianitti is on site in New Orleans filing reports throughout NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND. He is joined by TSN Basketball Analyst Sam Mitchell, who provides insight and analysis throughout the weekend.
