TORONTO (January 31, 2014) – Breakfast on the weekend just got bigger! CP24 BREAKFAST delivers an exciting wakeup call to viewers, tapping Nneka Elliot and Jamie Gutfreund to join Pooja Handa in hosting the popular weekend edition of the morning show. Beginning tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7 a.m., the trio of seasoned CP24 personalities serve up an all-new CP24 BREAKFAST on Saturdays and Sundays with a fun, engaging, and trustworthy blend of the latest breaking weather, traffic, and news Torontonians need to kick-start their weekends.

“Pooja, Nneka and Jamie possess an undeniable combination of energy, wit, and passion for Toronto and Torontonians,” said Joanne MacDonald, Vice-President, CTV News and General Manager, CP24. “Viewers rely on CP24 for breaking weather, traffic, and news on Saturdays and Sundays so they can get the most out of their weekends, and our new hosting team are the perfect chaperones for viewers looking to get all the information they need, along with plenty of conversation and laughs before starting the day.”

Joining veteran CP24 BREAKFAST host Handa, who has helmed the weekend program since March 2011, Elliot and Gutfreund are familiar and well-known faces to viewers. With this new appointment, Elliott expands her duties as a CP24 reporter and anchor specializing in weather and traffic, along with breaking news reporting from Toronto’s streets, where she covered the 2008 Sunrise Propane explosion and the 2009 Air France crash. Gutfreund’s new role as host complements his duties as weather specialist on the weekend edition of CP24 BREAKFAST, where he is known for keeping his cool on live TV in just about any situation – from rappelling down the side of a building to raising awareness about a good cause…while having a Burmese python wrapped around his neck.
