Leaving behind the 1920s, in which the firstfour seasons were set, the fifth season dawns in 1931, the depths of the GreatDepression. The final eight, one-hour episodes follow Nucky Thompson (SteveBuscemi, THE SOPRANOS) as he recalls his Atlantic City roots and plots apost-Prohibition future. Nominated for seven PrimetimeEmmy^® Awards thisyear, the season premieres Sunday, Sept. 7, at9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada. In the fifth seasonof BOARDWALK EMPIRE, the end of Prohibition looms and Nuckylooks to legitimize himself through alliances with liquor producers, whilerivals Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza, RESCUE ME) and Meyer Lansky (Anatol Yusef,SOUTHCLIFFE) seek to consolidate their power in the wake of Arnold Rothstein’s(Michael Stuhlbarg, Blue Jasmine) death and eliminate all competition,by any means necessary.
