Crave continues to deliver weekly alerts highlighting new and noteworthy programming and scheduling changes for the week ahead.   Highlights This Week
  • HBO’s six-episode docu-comedy HOW TO WITH JOHN WILSON premieres Friday, Oct. 23 at 11 p.m. ET. Documentary filmmaker and self-described “anxious New Yorker” John Wilson serves as a writer, director, cameraperson, producer, and narrator of this all-new series. In a uniquely hilarious odyssey of self-discovery and cultural observation, Wilson covertly and obsessively films the lives of his fellow New Yorkers while attempting to give everyday advice on relatable topics. Building upon Wilson’s previously released “how-to” short films, the episodes take wildly unexpected turns but are grounded in Wilson’s refreshing honesty. The docu-series is executive produced by Canadian comic Nathan Fielder (NATHAN FOR YOU).

  • SHOWTIME’s timely documentary AMERICAN SELFIE: ONE NATION SHOOTS ITSELF, offering a portrait of modern life in America, premieres Friday, Oct. 23. The film follows Emmy-nominated filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi (Journeys with George) as she travels across the United States chronicling the unprecedented social and political upheaval of 2020 as it unfolds. From political rallies, environmental protests, Black Lives Matter marches and the still-developing COVID-19 crisis, Americans on both sides of the political divide react to events that have defined this turbulent year.

  • Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant star in HBO’s new six-part limited series THE UNDOING, premiering Sunday, Oct. 25 at 9 p.m. ET. From Emmy®, Academy Award®, and Golden Globe®-winning director Susanne Bier (Bird Box) and the Emmy-winning creator of HBO’s BIG LITTLE LIES, David E. Kelley, the thrilling dramatic series follows Grace and Jonathan Fraser (Kidman and Grant) who are living the only lives they ever wanted for themselves. Overnight, a chasm opens in their lives: a violent death and a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child (Noah Jupe) and her family. Other cast members include Donald Sutherland (M*A*S*H), Edgar Ramirez (AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE ASSASSINATION OF GIANNI VERSACE), Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place 2), Lily Rabe (AMERICAN HORROR STORY), Sophie Gråbøl  (GENTLEMAN JACK), and Ismael Cruz Córdova  (BERLIN STATION).
What Critics Are Saying about SHOWTIME’s THE COMEDY STORE   “Hysterical And Historical ‘COMEDY STORE’ Takes You Inside The LA Stand-Up Scene” “[…] Binder has access to a seemingly endless stack of candid photos taken at the club, and uses them very well. He also folds in some very specific music choices on the soundtrack, ending each episode on one emotional peak or another. In its five installments, THE COMEDY STORE shows that comedy is serious business. But as examined here, it’s also very inspirational and heartwarming — and very, very funny.” – David Bianculli, NPR   “THE COMEDY STORE is as must-see as it gets for comedy nerds” “I love any and all documentaries about the history of comedy. […] But Showtime’s sensational new docuseries THE COMEDY STORE is the best of the bunch. Directed by and starring Mike Binder, the series features a slew of fascinating stories, exclusive footage from comedy legends like Richard Pryor and Sam Kinison, and interviews with Comedy Store alums David Letterman, Chris Rock, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, and many more. THE COMEDY STORE is as must-see as it gets for comedy nerds.” – Josh Sorokach, DECIDER   Crave Audience Metrics   Crave continues to have Canadians covered, delivering the best movies, TV series, and original hits all in one place. Produced by Emmy-award-winning Kunhardt Films (True Justice: Bryan Stevenson’s Fight for Equality), the film journeys through Meacham’s life and career while focusing on key historical events such as the women’s suffrage movement and the struggle to pass Civil Rights legislation in the 1960s.
