What Critics Are Saying about SHOWTIME’s THE GOOD LORD BIRD Hawke’s fierce turn drives an adaptation that captures much of the novel’s comic tone” “Hawke’s John Brown is a crescendoing turn, a scenery-devouring blend of crazy-eyed, spittle-flying excess spiked with silent, poignant grace notes of sincerity — the sort of work that requires an actor’s confidence and comfort inhabiting both extremes.” – Daniel Feinberg, The Hollywood ReporterEthan Hawke Burns with Fiery Passion as John Brown in THE GOOD LORD BIRD” “It is a testament to Hawke’s performance that this ridiculous situation gets delivered in the first hour of the seven-part Good Lord Bird as acceptable fact. The miniseries is good—at times, great. But Hawke is beyond great; he is incandescent.” – Sonia Saraiya, Vanity Fair‘THE GOOD LORD BIRD’: Ethan Hawke Is Antislavery’s Crazed Crusader” “[Hawke] is a sweaty, manic, delusional wonder to behold, giving the story a jolt whenever he appears. He is also, in something of a rarity in his career, incredibly funny.” – Alan Sepinwall, Rolling Stone Crave Audience Metrics Crave continues to have Canadians covered, delivering the best movies, TV series, and original hits all in one place.
