TORONTO (May 7, 2015) – Witnessing the inner workings of what it takes to launch and execute a mighty mission on some of the world’s most unique aircrafts, viewers take flight into the world of aviation when the original Canadian series MIGHTY PLANES returns for Season 3, Sunday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. PT on Discovery. The six-episode season premieres with the story of the CP-140 Aurora, considered one of the best surveillance aircraft in the world. The series then moves to its regular timeslot of Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning May 29.

CP-140 AuroraSunday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT
In the Season 3 premiere, viewers are taken behind the scenes of the legendary aircraft from the Cold War, the CP-140 Aurora, Canada’s very own “James Bond 007” spy plane. Viewers go along for the ride during its mission to hunt a mock submarine hiding in the Strait of Georgia off the coast of B.C.

Flying the T-38 jet trainer is the ultimate test for any pilot wanting to join the world’s elite club of fighter jet pilots. This episode goes behind the scenes with three NATO airmen who push the T-38 to its limits.
CC-115 BuffaloFriday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
The Canadian Air Force’s CC-115 Buffalo is the go-to aircraft for search and rescue missions along Canada’s West Coast. This episode follows the Buffalo and her crew conducting two search and rescue training exercises: a missing aircraft and a sinking boat.

This legendary flying behemoth made of old aircraft parts not only flies – she carries NASA’s bulkiest and most cutting edge aerospace components. The plane flies from its home in El Paso, Texas to the Boeing facility in Long Beach, California to pick up the multi-million dollar payload. Then fully loaded, the pilots muscle the bloated aircraft to the East Coast, making multiple stops along the way.
