ORPHAN BLACK Recruits Viewers to New Date and Time as Audience Grows 12% for Season 4 Premiere on Space

 TORONTO (April 28, 2016) – Final data from Numeris confirms that the Season 4 debut of Space’s signature series ORPHAN BLACK delivered 278,000 viewers on Space and was up 12% in the key A25-54 demo compared to the Season 3 premiere. The premiere episode reached 741,000 viewers overall across all airings the week of the premiere. Following the Season 4 premiere of ORPHAN BLACK, Space’s companion series AFTER THE BLACK premiered to 116,000 viewers in Canada. Hosted by INNERSPACE’s Ajay Fry, Morgan Hoffman, and Teddy Wilson, the exclusive insider after show airs on both Space in Canada and BBC America in the U.S., and features interviews with the ORPHAN BLACK cast, episode recaps, exclusive sneak peeks, and more. On Twitter, #OrphanBlack was a top ten trending topic on both sides of the border, and the #2 trending topic in Canada during the broadcast. As a result, @SpaceChannel carried a 29% higher user engagement rate on Twitter compared to last season. Following its debut in the U.S., AFTER THE BLACK also saw great success on social media; the #AfterTheBlack hashtag made more than 7 million Twitter impressions worldwide, a 150% increase from the Season 1 premiere in 2015. On the next episode of ORPHAN BLACK, “The Stigmata of Progress” (Thursday, April 28 at 10 p.m. ET on Space), as Sarah reels from the shocking discovery of Neolution’s biotech, she’s desperate to find answers. She impulsively follows a lead into a harrowing encounter that requires the help of an uneasy new ally. Eager to help, Mrs. S strikes an alliance with an old nemesis. Rachel receives a visit from her keeper and takes a fraught step forward towards recovery. Meanwhile, Helena is mistaken for “Mrs. Hendrix” when she answers a visit from suspicious visitors.
