TORONTO (November 4, 2024) – Recognized for exceptional achievements in electronic and digital journalism, Bell Media congratulates its team members on a total of 28 wins from the
2024 RTDNA Canada Awards. Announced Saturday evening by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), Bell Media won six
National and
Local News awards, in addition to 15 previously announced Regional Award wins.
CTV News Channel Anchor Beverly Thomson was named a recipient of RTDNA Canada’s National Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast and digital journalism.
Several current and former longtime Bell Media employees received Regional Lifetime Achievement Awards, including: Ross McLaughlin for the Western region; Lillian Pakula, Linda Oland, Lisa Williams, and Nancy Allen for the Central region; and Jayson Baxter for the Eastern region.
“I would like to congratulate all of our winners and nominees for their outstanding contributions,” said Richard Gray, VP, News, Bell Media. “Being recognized with these awards by our industry peers is a testament to the dedication of our News teams to keep Canadians informed on the most significant stories of the day, with trust and accuracy.”
CTV News was recognized with a multitude of National honours, including Best Live Special Event for the network’s digital coverage of the Coronation of King Charles, as well as the Video Journalist award for CTV NATIONAL NEWS Multi-Skilled Journalist Garrett Barry’s story “Scrub Squad: Erasing Graffiti in St. John’s, Newfoundland.”
Bell Media’s French-language news network Noovo Info was recognized with Best Breaking News for its digital reporting on the daycare tragedy at the Garderie Éducative Sainte-Rose.
CTV’s W5 was honoured for Best News Information Program for its investigation into Mexican drug cartels taking over the country’s avocado industry, as well as Excellence in Innovation for its reporting on Canadian boxing legend George Chuvalo.
In the local news categories, CTV Atlantic was recognized with Best TV Newscast (Small/Medium Market) for Nova Scotia Floods: Rainfall & Ruin.
