TORONTO (October 23, 2023) – Recognized for exceptional achievements in electronic and digital journalism, Bell Media congratulates its team members on a total of 41 wins from the
2023 RTDNA Canada Awards. Announced Saturday evening by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), Bell Media won 14
National and
Local News awards, in addition to its 25 previously announced Regional Award wins.
CTV NATIONAL NEWS Weekend Anchor and W5 Reporter Sandie Rinaldo was named the 2023 RTDNA Hall of Fame inductee, recognizing those who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of audio, digital, and video journalism.
Former Senior Director of CTV NATIONAL NEWS, the late Allan Myers, received RTDNA Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast and digital journalism.

Special congratulations goes out to Sandie Rinaldo, the 2023 RTDNA Hall of Fame inductee, who continues to be a trusted voice for viewers across Canada, and also to Allan Myers, recipient of RTDNA Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award, who was a visionary director for our flagship newscast, and who is deeply missed.”
CTV News was recognized with numerous top National honours, including Best TV Newscast for CTV NATIONAL NEWS, led by Chief Anchor and Senior Editor Omar Sachedina. CTV News also captured the Breaking News award for the network’s coverage of Hurricane Fiona; the Excellence in Video Award for the CTV News special REPORTER’S NOTEBOOK IN AFGHANISTAN; the Digital Breaking News award for coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth II; and Digital Best Feature News for coverage of Canada’s laws on stalking crimes. The CTV News special EXPELLED: MY ROOTS IN UGANDA received the award for Best Enterprise Journalism.
CTV’s W5 was honoured for Best News Information Program for its investigation into the practice of medical assistance in dying, as well as Excellence in Sports Reporting for its investigation into the toxic culture of abuse in Canadian gymnastics.
In the local news categories, CTV Ottawa received two awards, including Best Breaking News (Large Market) and Best TV Newscast (Large Market) for Derecho: Once in a Century Storm Slams into Ottawa. CTV Atlantic was recognized with two awards, as well: Best Live Special Events and Best VJ.
