Russell Crowe creates The John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward
— May 8, 2018
A jockstrap, a Blockbuster video store in Anchorage, Alaska, koala bears, chlamydia, and John Oliver… the narrative that weaves these things together is anything but mundane. And ICYMI, the satisfying conclusion to this hilarious story was revealed on last Sunday’s episode of LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER.
After shelling out almost $80,000 on collectibles from Russell Crowe’s acclaimed career, which Crowe parted with for his “Art of Divorce” auction, Oliver donated some of the iconic movie memorabilia to one of the last remaining Blockbuster video stores in the United States.
In turn, Crowe responded by generously donating the money to an Australian Zoo for the creation of The John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward.
Oliver’s reaction to his “random act of kindness”?
“How did all of those koalas get chlamydia?”
“That may honestly be the greatest thing I’ve ever seen"
“We have accomplished everything we set out to do on this show, which means, thanks very much everyone, but we are f**king done here."
