“Miracle Workers” is fundamentally corny, which may be a proof of its sincerity. It’s a meaningfully honest response to a senseless universe.” – Troy Patterson, The New Yorker

“…the series focuses on the great actors: When Radcliffe, Viswanathan, Soni and Adefope play off each other, “Workers” finds its miracles.” – Kelly Lawler, USA Today

TORONTO (January 23, 2020) – Swapping cubicles and punch cards of corporate heaven for thrones and swords of Medieval times, anthology comedy series MIRACLE WORKERS resets for Season 2 as MIRACLE WORKERS: DARK AGES. Premiering Thursday Jan. 30 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV Comedy Channel, the new, absurdist tale begins immediately following the Season 1 finale of heaven-set MIRACLE WORKERS at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Reassembling the stars from Season 1 in vastly different roles to tell a completely different story, the returning cast faces new challenges as a group of medieval villagers who are trying to stay positive in an age of extreme income inequality, poor healthcare, and widespread ignorance. Created by Simon Rich and executive produced by SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE creator Lorne Michaels, this 10-episode, half-hour comedy still grapples with the meaning of existence, but through the lenses of hapless peasants and futile rulers enduring centuries of continuous warfare and cultural stagnation. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) plays Prince Chauncley, a pampered royal who loves playing with his pet ducks but worries he is not living up to the expectations of his warlord father; Steve Buscemi (HBO’s BOARDWALK EMPIRE) is Eddie Shitshoveler, a good-natured peasant who loves his life despite having the worst job in the village; Geraldine Viswanathan  (Blockers) plays Al, Eddie’s brilliant daughter, who dreams of getting out of her small village and going someplace where she is not the only person who can read; Jon Bass (Molly’s Game) plays Mikey, Al’s sweet but slow-witted brother; Karan Soni (Deadpool) plays Lord Vexler, an overqualified royal advisor often tasked with babysitting Prince Chauncley; and Lolly Adefope (SHRILL) plays Maggie, Al’s best friend who is stuck working a dead-end job as a nun at the local convent. In the Season 2 premiere, “Graduation” (Thursday, Jan. 30 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT), Al (Viswanathan) pursues her education, while Prince Chauncley (Radcliffe) tries to live up to his father’s expectations. The MIRACLE WORKERS Season 1 premiere on CTV Comedy reached more than 330,000 Canadians and was the top program of the day (Jan. 9) for CTV Comedy among total viewers. MIRACLE WORKERS: DARK AGES is executive produced by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video with Andrew Singer and Katy Jenson executive producing alongside Rich, Radcliffe, and Buscemi.
