SEPTEMBER 9 – SHOWTIME’s AMERICAN GIGOLO *Series Premiere*
- AMERICAN GIGOLO, starring Jon Bernthal (WE OWN THIS CITY), is a present-day reimagining of the iconic 1980 film. SHOWTIME’s eight-episode series follows Julian Kaye (Bernthal) after his wrongful conviction release from 15 years in prison as he navigates his complicated relationships with his former lover Michelle, his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. While Kaye struggles to reconcile the escort he was in the past, and the man he is today, Detective Sunday (Rosie O’Donnell) seeks the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago, unearthing a much larger conspiracy along the way. The series follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes streaming Fridays.
SEPTEMBER 9 – THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy
- Journey to Middle Earth with Crave! Directed by Peter Jackson, and based on the epic high-fantasy novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, Crave adds The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on Friday, Sept. 9.
SEPTEMBER 9 – THE LAST TOURIST *Canadian Documentary Premiere*

SEPTEMBER 11 – STARZ’s THE SERPENT QUEEN *Series Premiere*
- Premiering Sunday, Sept. 11, the STARZ Original series THE SERPENT QUEEN is a cunning account of one of the most influential women ever to wear a crown: Catherine de Medici. Considered an immigrant, common, and plain, de Medici (Samantha Morton) is married into the 16th century French court as an orphaned teenager expected to bring a fortune in dowry, and produce many heirs, only to discover that her husband is in love with an older woman, her dowry is unpaid, and she’s unable to conceive. Yet, only with her intelligence and determination, she manages to keep her marriage alive and masters the bloodsport that is the monarchy better than anyone else, ruling France for 50 years. The series follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes dropping Sundays.
SEPTEMBER 14 – THE HANDMAID’S TALE *Season 5 Premiere*
- The Emmy Award-winning series THE HANDMAID’S TALE debuts it’s fifth season with two episodes on Wednesday, Sept. 14 on Crave and at 9 p.m. ET on CTV Drama Channel. Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, THE HANDMAID’S TALE is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. In Season 5, June (Elizabeth Moss, MAD MEN) faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena (Yvonne Strahovski, DEXTER) attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford, Get Out) works with Nick (Max Minghella, Spiral) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd, Hereditary) as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke (O-T Fagbenle, FIRST LADY) and Moira (Samira Wiley, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah. THE HANDMAID’S TALE follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes airing Wednesdays on CTV Drama Channel and streaming Wednesdays on Crave.
NOW STREAMING – Crave’s Best of TIFF Collection and TIFF People’s Choice Award Collection
- The Toronto International Film Festival returns for its 47th edition from Sept. 8 – 18, celebrating International and Canadian cinema, with special events featuring some of the biggest names in film. Viewers can check out Crave’s Best of TIFF collection, which features many notable TIFF selections including Belfast, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Slumdog Millionaire, and HBO’s Jagged and The Survivor. In addition, on Thursday, Sept. 8, Crave launches the TIFF People’s Choice Awards collection, including nominees and winners of the annual award presented to the most popular film of the year. The collection includes Nomadland, La La Land, and Jojo Rabbit.
