THE FOURTH ESTATE, a new documentary series from SHOWTIME that examines the inner workings of The New York Times during President Trump’s first year, will have its international premiere at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. Directed and produced by Emmy®-winning and Oscar®-nominated filmmaker  Liz Garbus (What Happened, Miss Simone?), THE FOURTH ESTATE offers an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at The New York Times through extraordinary access, on-the-scene filmmaking, and exclusive sit-down interviews. The film illuminates critical issues facing journalism today, including the challenge to the bedrock concept of truth, the changing role of the media, and the Times’ response to President Trump’s war of words.   Hot Docs begins April 26 and runs through May 6.   THE FOURTH ESTATE streams on CraveTV on Sunday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET, day-and-date with SHOWTIME in the US.
