“I’m honoured to join the great team at CP24 to share the knowledge I’ve accrued over many years in law enforcement,” said Ryan. “I look forward to helping viewers better understand crime stories as they happen, as well as sharing my experiences as both a police constable and homicide investigator.” “With decades of experience at the Toronto Police Service, Steve is an authority on crime investigation, and he will provide fundamental context and analysis of crime stories for CP24 viewers,” said Joanne MacDonald, Vice-President, CTV News and General Manager, CP24. “We are delighted to welcome Steve to the team, and we look forward to continuing to deliver comprehensive breaking news coverage of the most significant events unfolding across the city.” Ryan began his law enforcement career at the age of 18 as a police cadet, quickly moving up the ranks to police constable followed by sergeant. He joined the Detective Sex Crimes Unit in 2000, advocating for victims’ rights while investigating serious sexual crimes and solving high-profile cases, including the York University rape investigation. Over his 13 years with the Toronto Police Service Homicide Unit, Ryan contributed context and analysis to CP24’s “Cold Case of The Week” series.
