BANFF, ALTA. (February 4, 2017) – For a third consecutive year at the PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME, two-time defending champion Brad Jacobs opened his tournament against Manitoba’s Mike McEwen – with defending champion Team Jacobs claiming victory and advancing to tomorrow’s men’s final. Two-time PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME champions and Olympic gold medallists Team Jacobs, also featuring Ryan Fry, E.J. Harnden, and Ryan Harnden, advance to tomorrow’s men’s final after winning $12,500 tonight at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, Alta. Skip Brad Jacobs’ career TSN skins game winnings now total a staggering $158,500. Team McEwen, which also features B.J. Neufeld, Matt Wozniak, and Denni Neufeld, will go home with a total of $8,500 in prize winnings following tonight’s PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME semifinal. Draw Summary Making his third appearance in the competition, McEwen started the draw strong with back-to-back steals in the 1st and 2nd ends. Jacobs quickly responded by winning the 3rd and stealing a skin in the 4th to take the lead. In the 5th end, McEwen’s final stone was off-line on a difficult run-back, extending Jacobs’ lead on the fourth steal of the game’s opening five ends. McEwen then couldn’t stick his raise takeout in the 6th, resulting in a carry-over, which proved costly when the two-time defending champ Jacobs coolly executed a quiet tap back in the 7th to win $7,500 and secure his trip into Sunday’s final. McEwen’s draw to the button with the game’s final stone scored him $6,500, for a total of $8,500. Final result: • Team Jacobs: $12,500 • Team McEwen: $8,500 Team Jacobs advances to the Men’s Final tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 5) at 3 p.m. ET live on TSN. They will face off against Team Koe, who defeated Team Edin earlier today.
