BANFF, ALTA. (February 3, 2017) – In a competitive start to the P
INTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME, defending skins champions Team Jones and national champions Team Carey reignited their curling rivalry in front of a packed house tonight at the
Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in beautiful Banff, Alta.
This time it was defending
PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME champions Team Jones, also featuring Kaitlyn Lawes, Jill Officer, and Dawn McEwen, who swept up $11,000 in prize money to advance to their third consecutive women’s final. After tonight’s semifinal, skip Jennifer Jones’ career skins game earnings now total a whopping $96,000.
Team Carey, which features Amy Nixon, Jocelyn Peterman, and Lain Peters, did not go home empty-handed, winning a total of $10,000 tonight. This brings skip Chelsea Carey’s total TSN skins game earnings to $18,500.
Draw Summary
Defending champion Jennifer Jones started strong in a competitive opening draw, winning three of the opening four ends, highlighted by a beautiful in-off by the 2014 Sochi Olympic gold medallist to win the 4th end and $1,500. 2016 Scotties champ Chelsea Carey captured skins in the 3rd and 5th ends, and the game remained tied at $3,500 apiece when the 6th end saw Jones score just one to cause a carry-over. In the decisive 7th end, with both $7,500 and the game on the line, Carey came up light with her attempted draw to the four-foot, resulting in a steal for Jones. The carry-over skins sent Jones into Sunday’s final before the 8th and final end was played. Carey captured the 8th end to finish with a total of $10,000, but it wasn’t enough to secure a place in the final on Sunday.
Final result:
• Team Jones: $11,000
• Team Carey: $10,000
