(February 5, 2017) – In a rematch of last year’s PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME Women’s Final, defending champion Team Jones defeated Team Sweeting to win her second straight championship today at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, Alta. Manitoba’s Team Jones, which also features Kaitlyn Lawes, Jill Officer, and Dawn McEwen, took home the victory, winning $41,000 in today’s final. Combined with their $11,000 prize winnings from Friday night’s semifinal and a $1,000 draw to the button bonus, Team Jones swept up a total of $53,000 in this weekend’s PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME. Overall, skip Jennifer Jones’ TSN Skins Game career earnings now stand at $138,000. After winning $16,000 in their second consecutive PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME final appearance, Alberta’s Team Sweeting, also featuring Lori Olson-Johns, Dana Ferguson, and Rachelle Brown, walk away with a total of $35,500 in prize money from this weekend (see below for a breakdown of earnings results). Overall, skip Val Sweeting’s TSN Skins Game career earnings now total $77,000. The PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME Men’s Final, which features Team Jacobs battling Team Koe, airs this afternoon at 3 p.m. ET on TSN. Draw Summary Sweeting kicked off the game with one of the shots of the tournament, making a tough, long runback all the way from her hometown of Vegreville with her final stone of the first end. She then stole the 2nd end for a $4,000 lead, and Jones’ takeout with the last rock of the 3rd put her on the board. Sweeting captured the 4th end before Jones executed a difficult long runback takeout to pick up one for a carry-over in the 5th. The 6th end saw Sweeting miss a runback double with her final stone, resulting in a critical $10,000 steal by the defending champion Jones. Sweeting then completed a draw for two with backing for the $9,000 skin in the 7th, setting up a tense finish that culminated with Jones’ takeout with the last rock of the game, sealing her second straight win at the tournament.
