BANFF, ALTA. (February 4, 2017) – Two elite competitors and former World Champions squared off once again at the
PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME as Canadian champions Team Koe edged out Sweden’s Team Edin in a world-class semifinal performance to advance to tomorrow’s men’s final.
Appearing in his fifth career
PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME, Team Koe, which also features Marc Kennedy, Brent Laing, and Ben Hebert, claimed victory after winning $17,500 at the
Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, Alta. After today’s semifinal, skip Kevin Koe’s career TSN skins game earnings total $110,900.
Team Edin, which features Oskar Eriksson, Rasmus Wrana, and Christoffer Sundgren, did not go home empty-handed, winning a total of $3,500 this morning in their first
PINTY’S ALL-STAR CURLING SKINS GAME appearance.
Draw Summary
The morning draw on day two of the Pinty’s All-Star Curling Skins Game featured an intercontinental battle of the last two World Champions. Edin struck first in the 2nd end, after Koe’s in-off attempt ran too straight, resulting in Edin taking the first two skins without even having to throw his final stone. Koe opened the door for Edin to extend his lead in the 5th, missing his tap back. However, Edin gave the gift right back, coming up short in his draw for two, resulting in another carry-over into the 6th. A Team Edin miss early in the 6th end allowed Koe to secure a simple two. After Edin’s delicate tap in the 7th caused a carry-over, it came down to an exciting 8th end. With his final stone, Koe had to play a difficult, long run-back for his pair. He hit the pocket perfectly in the four-foot to secure the $11,000 and a spot in Sunday’s final.
Final result:
• Team Koe: $17,500
• Team Edin: $3,500
