Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir Return to Headline the 2016 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL, Exclusively on CTV and TSN October 28 and 29

TORONTO (October 25, 2016) – Two-time world champions and Olympic gold medallist ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are back after two years away from competition as they headline this weekend’s 2016 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL, exclusively on CTV and TSN. Live from the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ont., complete event coverage begins with the Ladies’ Short Program and Pairs Short Program this Friday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. ET on TSN3, TSN4, and TSN5 (see below for complete broadcast schedule). CTV and TSN pair up to deliver complete live coverage of all four disciplines at this weekend’s 2016 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL, spanning the ladies’, men’s, pairs, and ice dance competitions – with Virtue and Moir competing for their sixth ice dance title at the event. The networks’ live coverage of the 2016 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL is also available live and on demand to CTV and TSN subscribers via the CTV GO and TSN GO apps. French-language coverage of the event is available on RDS. In addition to the much-anticipated return of Virtue and Moir, the 2016 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL features a star-studded field of Canadian favourites, including:

• Patrick Chan, a three-time world champion and Olympic silver medallist, who headlines the men’s field along with Yuzuru Hanyu, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games gold medallist and 2014 world champion
• Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, who captured their second consecutive pairs world championship last season
• Alaine Chartrand, the defending Canadian ladies’ champion, who takes on a field that includes 2016 world champion Evgenia Medvedeva

As the official broadcasters of Skate Canada domestic events, CTV and TSN feature the industry’s top figure skating broadcast team, led by host Brian Williams, who boasts extensive experience covering the Olympic Winter Games and Canadian and World Figure Skating Championships. Rod Black, the voice of figure skating in Canada, is in the broadcast booth with analyst Tracy Wilson, a seven-time national ice dance champion and Olympic bronze medallist. Reporting from rinkside and backstage is Sara Orlesky, who has covered figure skating events for CTV and TSN since the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The 2016 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL is the second of six major events on the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating circuit and the first on CTV/TSN’s figure skating calendar.
