TORONTO (August 1, 2014) – The Sharknado phenomena made its way north of the border Wednesday night, claiming lives, mayors, and viewers. SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE lured in 389,000 viewers for its premiere on Space, up 26% compared to last summer’s inaugural movie. The sequel was the #1 specialty program of the day among total viewers, A25-54 and A18-49, making Space the #1 specialty network on Wednesday. Overall, the two-hour special was watched by nearly 1.3 million unique viewers, and peaked with 521,000 viewers.

On Twitter, the hashtags: #Sharknado2 and #Sharknado2TheSecondOne reached 10 million estimated impressions in Canada, making Sharknado the #1 trending topic in Canada with five of the Top 10 topics.

Viewers who missed out on every fin-tastic moment, including a deadly scene with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, can watch the repeat airing of SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE, Monday, Aug. 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET, exclusively on Space.

In SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most-cherished iconic sites – and only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple. Vivica A. Fox joins the cast as Skye, an old high school friend of Fin, while Mark McGrath stars as Fin’s brother-in-law.
