With this week’s series’ premiere described in a story by The Globe and Mail television critic John Doyle as “flawless”; and [a drama that] “promises so much, with a likeable male lead and a story line that oozes charm,” CTV’s new fall cop drama THE ROOKIE is one to watch on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET /8 p.m. MT on CTV and the CTV app.
Starring Edmonton-born actor Nathan Fillion (CASTLE), the series kicked off with an action-packed episode introducing viewers to John Nolan, a recent divorcee who joins the LAPD as a 40-year old rookie cop looking for a second chance.
After 25 years in the television business, Fillion is definitely no rookie, but pokes fun at the longevity of his character John Nolan – while showcasing his “trailer voiceover” skills – in a recent Instagram post, saying “How far would you go before you ran out of breath? For this rookie, the answer may be shorter than you think.” This video offers a glimpse at the talent, tongue-in-cheek humour, and charm that have made Fillion a television star.
In advance of next week’s episode, catch up on some hometown love for THE ROOKIE in an Edmonton Journalstory by Liane Faulder, who explores “the art of reinvention” parallels between character John Nolan and Fillion’s latest role.
Nathan Fillion autographs a CTV poster during a junket at Bell Media headquarters with his personal message: “Who’s The Rookie now? Still me.”
ICYMI – to catch up on the first episode of THE ROOKIE this weekend head to CTV.ca and the CTV app in advance of the second episode, airing Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 10 p.m. ET /8 p.m. MT.
