TORONTO (August 27, 2014) – A new baby, a new haircut, endless conversations, and no regrets! Hot off the heels of its successful first season, CTV’s original daily talk series THE SOCIAL kicks off its second season on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. ET (2 p.m. AT) on CTV and the CTV GO app. With loyal fans who join the conversation daily and have as many opinions as THE SOCIAL’s no-holds-barred co-hosts, THE SOCIAL currently reaches more than 2 million viewers weekly on CTV, and is the second most-watched Canadian lifestyle series nationally behind only THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW.

Hosted by moderator Melissa Grelo (@melissagrelo), relationship expert Cynthia Loyst (@cynthialoyst), Canada’s foremost gossip blogger Lainey Lui (@LaineyGossip), and entertainment reporter Traci Melchor (@stayfabulous), THE SOCIAL will continue to debate and discuss the lifestyle and entertainment topics that matter most to Canadians.

Season 1 featured a number of amazing guest co-hosts including Jann Arden, Emily Procter, Elisha Cuthbert, Wendy Crewson, Sarah Rafferty, Arielle Kebbel, Debbie Travis, and Lauren Holly, among others. Guest co-hosts will continue to appear throughout THE SOCIAL’s second season, including Arden who’s set to return the week of Nov. 3.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be co-hosting THE SOCIAL again with my fine and beautiful “social” ladies!,” said Jann Arden. “I have been working for months on my outfits and feel as though I am ready to take the television world by storm. I even have a few hot topics I want to bring to the table – but that’s a secret.”

After over 200 episodes, countless laughs and almost as many differing opinions, the co-hosts share some of their favourite Season 1 moments.

Who Was Your Favourite Guest?

  •  “Miss Piggy! I have never been so intimidated during an interview in my life. And she is even more beautiful in person.” – Cynthia
  •  “Daniel Radcliffe was the nicest person ever. Person, not celebrity. Like he’s nice even by normal people standards: so polite, so gracious, so funny, so accommodating.” – Lainey
  • “Miss Piggy. She is an icon.” – Traci
  •  “Eugenie Bouchard had such a good, centred sense of herself and was very charming. She’s seen and done so much for being so young and yet she is still very grounded. Did I mention she’s also hilarious?!” – Melissa

What Surprising Thing Have You Learned About Your Fellow Co-Hosts?

  • “I always knew that Traci was funny, but I’ve seen first-hand just how masterful her humour is. Her timing is impeccable and she is very, very smart and insightful with how she uses her one-liners.” – Melissa
  • “That Melissa was pregnant! That was really surprising. That was our first big surprise of the show. She set the standard for surprising each other and set the bar high.” – Traci
  •  “Melissa, Cynthia, and Traci surprise me every day! I love that Melissa is this hard-news girl who also knows all the lyrics to every one of JLO’s songs; I always admire Cynthia’s limitless compassion and generosity; and to quote Shakespeare, Traci will never age for me. She is bright all the time.” – Lainey
  • “Mel’s pregnancy announcement – I had no idea! But looking back, she was asking me an awful lot of questions about my pregnancy so maybe I should have suspected something…” – Cynthia

What Was Your Favourite Moment From Season 1?

  • “Dancing with Chris Tucker and talking about Michael Jackson; being a stuntwoman; and Justin Trudeau dipping me – those were all really great fun moments.” – Traci
  • “The day Traci debuted her new short hair. When she sashayed onto the set, it was like we were in the presence of a rock god. That girl really knows how to own a moment. I’m so glad we have that on video.” – Lainey
  • “When Mel showed up with her baby for the first time – again we were so surprised. And I’m such a drip since I had my baby that I just sat there holding Marquesa with tears streaming down my face.” – Cynthia
  • “Returning to work after a short maternity leave. That first show back was magical and a total rush.” – Melissa

THE SOCIAL’s always hilarious and regular fifth chair guest, digital correspondent Jessica Allen, also shares some of her most memorable moments.

What Was Your Favourite Moment From Season 1?

  • The first time I read the teleprompter without messing up.
  • That time Jane Lynch asked me to stop snorting.
  • That time Daniel Radcliffe came on the show.
  • Every single moment Jann Arden was on.

What Surprising Thing Have You Learned About Your Fellow Co-Hosts?

  • Lainey really does go commando. (Don’t ask).

THE SOCIAL delivers an innovative forum for viewers to debate and discuss the topics of the day by interacting with the co-hosts through Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Each show kicks-off with a round-table chat featuring the buzz-worthy subjects Canadians are talking or Tweeting about, including headlines of the day, celebrity news, and trending topics. The round-table is followed by lifestyle segments inspired by viewers, and celebrity interviews.

THE SOCIAL airs weekdays at 1 p.m. ET (2 p.m. AT) on CTV, 2 p.m. ET on CTV Two, and 5 p.m. ET beginning Sept. 2 on E! THE SOCIAL also airs live on CTV GO (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times), as well as on demand across CTV’s digital platforms including CTV.ca and TheSocial.ca.
