THE SOCIAL’s New All-Talk Edition Airs Thursday, August 2 on CTV

Tomorrow is all about trying new things at CTV’s THE SOCIAL! CTV’s most buzzworthy round-table chat  gears up for an even deeper-dive into conversation as co-hosts Melissa Grelo (@melissagrelo), Cynthia Loyst (@cynthialoyst), Lainey Lui (@LaineyGossip), Marci Ien (@MarciIen), along with Digital Correspondent Jess Allen (@jessieraeallen), command the full hour with THE SOCIAL: ALL-TALK EDITION on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. ET on CTV. During the one-hour all-chat episode, the co-hosts debate the hottest trends, current events, lifestyle, and entertainment topics, and welcome two very special fifth chair guests. Additionally, fiercely outspoken co-host Lainey Lui is in the HOT (moderator) seat for the first time – and she’s up for the challenge! In advance of the episode, CTV PR sat down with Laura Scarfo, Executive Producer of THE SOCIAL, to chat about preparing for the episode and challenges behind this new format. Q: How is this format different? A: We’re really excited about teasing out the all-talk segments which typically anchor the top of every show, where the co-hosts hash out the hottest topics of the day. Our viewers and fans have told us they enjoy being part of the conversation, so instead of what feels like a 15-minute catchup with friends, we’re gearing up for a proper sit-down and scoop about everything for the full hour. Q: What kind of preparation goes in to an all-chat episode? A: A ton! It’s a challenge to fill an entire hour with engaging topics and I’m very grateful for such an amazing team that works tirelessly behind-the-scenes to research and find relevant headlines that our co-hosts and viewers will be interested in. Q: So it can be challenging to find new topics, but how difficult is it to keep the conversation flowing for an hour?! A: If you know our co-hosts, it won’t be very difficult! In all truth, they make this extremely difficult task look so easy – a testament not just to the collective intelligence, experience, and professionalism of this dynamic team of very different personalities with varying viewpoints/opinions. But at the root of their conversations is the friendship and deep respect they have for each other and for our viewers. They raise the bar every day and our viewers and fans respond by tuning in and joining the conversation. Q: Viewers are always engaging live during the episode. Do you think they will enjoy the all-talk episode? A: We hope so! Viewers are encouraged to comment and engage with us across their social platforms during the episode, and be a part of the conversation.
