Tuesday, Dec. 1 9 p.m. – VICE SPECIAL REPORT: COUNTDOWN TO ZERO – *Special Premiere* Ranging from high-tech American labs, where the DNA of HIV-positive patients is being edited to resist the virus, to South African clinics that are participating in the largest vaccine trial in history, VICE SPECIAL REPORT: COUNTDOWN TO ZERO goes inside the search for the cure to eliminate AIDS. Hosted by VICE founders and correspondents Shane Smith and Suroosh Alvi, the timely special debuts on World AIDS Day. Thursday, Dec. 3 9 p.m. – HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD – *Documentary Premiere* In 1971, a group of friends sail into a nuclear test zone and their protest captures the world’s imagination, giving birth to Greenpeace and defining the modern green movement. Directed by Jerry Rothwell, this documentary chronicles the adventures of this eclectic group of young pioneers – Canadian hippie journalists, photographers, musicians, scientists, and American draft dodgers – who set out to stop Richard Nixon’s atomic bomb tests in Amchitka, Alaska, and end up making history. Sunday, Dec. 6 9 p.m. – THE LEFTOVERS – *Season Finale* In the season finale, Kevin (Justin Theroux) comes clean to a skeptical John (Kevin Carroll) about his connection to Evie’s (Jasmin Savoy Brown) disappearance, as Miracle faces an unexpected threat on the fourth anniversary of The Departure. 10 p.m. – GETTING ON – Season 3, Episode 5 With the ward’s fate up in the air, DiDi (Niecy Nash) hunts for ways to save it, while dealing with pressure from Dawn (Alex Borstein) to be her health advocate. Meanwhile, troublemaking Varla (June Squibb) returns, and butts heads with her equally opinionated, long-lost daughter (Kristen Johnson). Caught in a mountain of lies, Jenna (Laurie Metcalf) comes clean to her husband, Richard (Daniel Stern). After a memorial service full of drama, the staff gets a rude awakening 10:30 p.m. – ROCK ICONS – Slash: The Natural – Episode 7 of 10 This episode explores Slash, who as a young child, often found the likes of Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne sitting in his living room. This interesting childhood privilege came as a result of his album cover designer dad and a mother who was David Bowie’s costume designer. In this episode, ROCK ICONS catches up with Slash at his Los Angeles home to discuss how much of his life as rock ‘n’ roll’s last great guitarist, was simply, inevitable. 11 p.m. – ROCK ICONS – Daryl Hall: The Soul Man – Episode 8 of 10 Few musical artists have scaled the heights of stardom quite like Hall & Oates’ Daryl Hall, and even fewer are as misunderstood. In this episode, ROCK ICONS travels to New York State to speak with Daryl about a number of topics including: his experience singing in churches and street corners in Philadelphia, finding a creative partner in John Oates, and honing one of the most authentic voices in pop music history. Monday, Dec. 7 9 p.m. – U2: INNOCENCE + EXPERIENCE TOUR – *Concert Special* In their first HBO concert performance, U2 plays the Bercy Arena in Paris on their current tour, showcasing the inventive set that allows the band to explore the concepts of iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE via a performance that literally moves throughout the venue via multiple stages, a one-of-a-kind interactive floor-to-ceiling arena-length LED screen, and a radical new approach to surround sound. The iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE setlists span the band’s entire career, from its 1980 debut album, Boy to its most recent work Songs of Innocence. Wednesday, Dec. 9 11 p.m. – THE FIGHT GAME WITH JIM LAMPLEY Episodic information is currently unavailable. Please visit http://www.hbocanada.com/details/?id=101810   Sunday, Dec. 13 10 p.m. – GETTING ON – *Series Finale* As the staff attempts to stave off the closure of Billy Barnes, DiDi takes to the picket lines in a last-ditch effort. Jenna tries to weasel her way out of a hastily made offer. Patsy (Mel Rodriguez) is intrigued by Margueritte’s (Lindsey Kraft) revelation during a secret-sharing session. After a ruse is exposed, Dawn inadvertently sets in motion a chaotic chain of events that seals the fate of the ward. 10:30 p.m. – ROCK ICONS – Joe Elliott: The Catalyst – Episode 9 of 10 Joe Elliott has been obsessed with music from the earliest of ages, determined to break from his roots in industrial England. He possessed a rare, all-consuming awareness that stardom would come if one puts the work in. Traveling to Dublin, Ireland, ROCK ICONS meets Elliot, a man perfectly comfortable celebrating his band's incredible ascent, as well the thing that remains as vital to him as the very air he breathes: music. 11 p.m. – ROCK ICONS – Billy Corgan: The Outsider *Finale* Hardly a week goes by without Billy Corgan making some comment that is seemingly designed to both infuriate and dismay. However, there is far more bubbling underneath the talented artist than simply being a provocateur. In his home town of Chicago, ROCK ICONS finds the Smashing Pumpkins leader picking a fight with his most formidable enemy, his own musical legacy.
